Question about Garmin Forerunner 305 GPS Receiver
The 305 uses distance to calculate calories. They sell a "foot pod" that you can use indoors, and that will count your calories by calculating the distance you have traveled. The problem however, is that using distance to calculate calories is so inaccurate! The calorie count that the 305 provides is almost always WAY too high. Other heart rate monitors use heart rate to calculate calories burned, and it is a much more accurate measure. My garmin thinks i burned 700 calories an hour today while i was snowboarding, and, while that would be nice, there is NO way it's true!!

I have similar problem, looking online now to see if there is a fix or whether it's just when GPS mode is on. Will drop a note to Garmin or call, and hope to get an answer.
