Pilot and burner light then gas shut off model 7900

How many degrees before it reaches desired temp, does it shut off? A thermostat is designed to shut the furnace off a couple/ few degrees before it reaches set temp. It has what is called a heat anticipater, which shuts the burner down, and lets the blower use the remaining heat from the heat exchanger to bring it up to desired temp making it more efficient. If it is more than a few degrees, replace the thermostat. You can jump out the red and white wires to confirm the faulty thermostat. If by doing this, the furnace never shuts down, until you separate the red and white wires. That confirms a faulty thermostat. Hope this helps someone.

Gas oven heats up to proper temperature and then quits heating.

It sounds like you may have a Whirlpool gas range. If so it is more that likely the burner assembly itself. The electrode attached to the burner gets to where it will light during the preheat but then once it starts to cycle the spark module tries three times to light the burner and then shuts down. the burner assembly comes as one unit with the electrode attached.

Hi I have an xl80 the burner lite and heats up till at desired temp, after burner goes out the fan keeps on running 15 minutes or so. If I go down and shut off power switch to furnace then the fan shuts...

Hi, sounds like you have a problem with the heat anticipator in the thermostat. If you replaced the fan limit, and with it running that long after the burners shut down, it would be in your stat. If it fires up after resetting breaker, was the stat set to call for heat? If not, the stat is faulty. If you remove the front to get to the stat wires, take a jumper wire and jump from RH or RC to W. Heat will start. Let it run for a minute or so and remove wire. If the fan shuts down with in a min. or so, you will know it was the stat. Good Luck and let me know the out come!

Dryer goes on, and will start burner but will not reach operating temp. Shuts burner off almost immediately. Will start burner again in cycle but then shuts off before it reaches operating temp.

What brand? You could have a clogged vent, or a stretched out belt, allowing too much heat inside the drum, triggering a safety switch.

The heater starts up but then heat shuts off within a couple minutes

i would look a a high limit problem.check for obstruction between heat exchanger and top of unit or plugged heat exchanger.remove top and look straight down and you should see burner flames between heat exch fins. depending on which ignition you have, could also be flame sensor problem.ususally with flame sensor problem burner shuts off within 20 seconds.hope this helps.

Cycles to temp, then heat shuts off and will not reignite

Hello,This problem is going to be your safety valve coils...basically they get old and over time of heating then cooling develop a short when they heat up...It may appear the gas lights to start but then goes out until the safety valve coils cool back down. Here is a picture of the coils 57d5263.jpgThis should solve your problem. Hope this helps, Please feel free to comment again if you have any further questions or concerns. Good Luck! Mike
