It will access the wifi, but it keeps saying that the conectivity is limited.
The extrange thing is that i use my laptop also with the windows assistant to get the wifi and no problem.
Im gettin really lost, i'll be really grateful with some help.
And other strange thing is that my laptop velocity in conexion proberties shows 24 MBPS and when using the wg311 computer also 1MBPS

In that case please assign static IP and DNS on the wireless connection.

Hope this helps. You may also try reinstalling the adapter with the latest drivers which can be downloaded from the NETGEAR support site.

This was amazing. No one else could fix the problem. This did the trick, but when I started the compter back up, the same thing happened. I can do this everytime, but any way to keep it permenent ? Is this just problem with Netgear ? I had no problems with the adapter card until I changed servers and had to get a Linksys router. 2 laptops and an Ipad connected with no problems. The netgear desktop was the only computer with the problem. Signal found but no connection. Thanks for the help

Trying to connect my iPhone 4 to my WGT624 v3 router. My iPhone is detecting the network, but i'm getting the message "unable to join the network" .

Hi chaps,

I did two things to resolve this issue

1. Downgrade the router to a lower version. If your router is Netgear WGT624 v3 use this link to downgrade your router

http://www.davejackson.com/life/cant-access-wifi-with-ios-6-on-iphone-with-netge ar-wgt624v3-fix/

(this help to avoid getting a errro message "Unable to join network")

2. Reconfigure you Wifi network by going to setting ---->under choose a network---> others-----> Enter your SSID name (seen at the back of your router) ----->under the security tab selet the same encyrption standard as that of your router which you can see when you log in to the router (usually router IP 192.168.1.1) ---->setup ------>wireless setting----> security option. This one helps you to join your home wifi as soon as you enter your home.

I hope this one works as it worked for me happy.gif

I have installed uninstalled my laptop to the netgear wireless. It won't connect to the secured wireless but only to tthe unsecured It then says TCP?IP disabled for this connection

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, which is the Netgear, the WiFI / AP router or the wireless networking card of the laptop?

Offhand, that there are at least two (2) networks that could be detected by the laptop indicates that the WiFi is both receiving and transmitting (it works and therefore the issue is settings & configurations). Which of the networks is yours; the secured or unsecured?

Alternately, determine the SSID of your WiFi network and the PASSKEY used or the security system used (if one is used in your system/network). Additionally, are you using the Netgear Smart Wizard Wireless Assistant or the Windows built-in Wireless Network Connection?

For the secured system, use the PASSKEY determined as per above; for the unsecured, it may be employing MAC filter, try manually inputting the IP Address, Subnet Mask and Default Gateway.

Postback result(s) / updates.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

Wireless not working from netgear wg311 to a new bt homehub2

Hi Backatya,

Check what kind of security you upgraded BThomehub 2 uses. Since the hub supports more security-types then your adapter does, I suspect an incompatibility there.

You can solve it by connecting through cable and changing security to WEP or WPA (not WPA2).

Hi!

I'm sorry to tell you, but Netgear does not have a Macintosh driver for WG11 adapter. It can only work with Windows OS.

WG311 - Excellent Connection, No Internet

I do it for a living. In my experience with routers in general, they have a tendency to reset themselves with general poweroutages and power surges. I would suggest hard wiring to the router and going into the settings. It might surprise you to find the wep key changed itself during the week. Hope this helps.

I cannot connect my laptop computor to my main computor

Bluetooth is not WiFi,   they are two seperate technologies.

you need a Wireless adapter 802.11b/g for your laptop,

you would connect the two to each other using an adhoc connection,

If you had a wireless router for your internet you could connect directly to the router, (and then you would not have to have your main computer on for you to access the internet.

BTW if your Main machine is near your phone point (for internet connection) you would not need a wireless card for your pc, as you could connect via LAN cable to the wireless router (make sure you get one with lan ports)

you should only need to enter the WEP key and get youre friend to remove your mac address. You may also need to refresh the ip address of your wireless card, so go to control panel>network connections>right click to properties>TCP/IP line>properties and ensure 'obtain ip address automatically' is ticked, then reastart your pc. Or you can also click Start>Run, then type ipconfig /flushdns, so as to renew your dns and ip address.
