I had the same problem a while back, I eventually had to uninstall everything and then reinstall and it worked fine after that, I have no clue what made it do what it did...thanks Steve

Try to clean the contacts on Magenta cartridge and the printhead where the cartridge is connected.
Clean this with printer off and use lint free cloth which is slightly moistened.

SOURCE: Wrong ink in slot
You must have to do the cleaning process many times as necessary until it prints correctly.
Since the pipes still have magenta ink, it will have to drain all the magenta ink.
Press Ink Management, then select Cleaning Black. At the end print the quality test page.
Do the procedure until it prints correctly.

If you have lots of flashing error lights or electrical problems then it is likely to be electrical.
However, if like most... and yourprinter has just been left unused for some time? You probably have an ink clog on magenta.
Provided it worked OK before a period of non-use? Then you just need to use a PRINT HEAD CLEANING KIT to unclog the tiny jets.
Magic Inkjet Flush usually works a treat on those!
Magic is ideal for unclogging the tiny jets on any Canon,Epson HP and removing those horrible white lines which usually appear in prints whendried ink clogs several jets...
So if yours appears to be a clog? all you should need to do is to use the MagicInkjet Flush kit to soak the print head and you should be printing again like new.

the error's you were getting on the CIS could have been from the chip. Try setting the date back on the computer or on the printer back 1 year. See if that makes a difference (if you still have the CIS and the printer). Best advice, get an updated chip.
