it depend what year is it most bmw have anti theft on the and if take the off and don't have the codes you will have a problem,, so you might want get a cigarette lighter cord ( you can buy at a car battery or auto parts )that hooks up to 9 volt battery or a 12 v battery to keep the flow to the computer so it dosnt lock then take the battery out which is most likely under the back seat as i said it depends what year the car is ,,,,good luck ,,, Joe

Your battery is located in the trunk on the passenger side of the vehicle. To disconnect and remove the battery first remove the black plastic cover which houses the battery. Then disconnect the negative lead (black) followed by the red (positive) lead. Make sure the leads do not touch the battery while removing the battery. There is a small bracket located at the bottom of the battery box. This bracket holds the battery in place and can be removed by unbolting the 10mm bolt which holds it in place. Once this bolt is removed you can remove the metal bracket and lift the battery out of the bin. Installation is the exact reversal of this process.

- The battery for your vehicle is located in the trunk on the passenger side. There is a black plastic cover which houses the battery. To remove the battery you must first remove this plastic cover. Unbolt the black (negative) lead and remove it from the battery. Next, unbolt and remove the red (positive) lead. Make sure the leads for the battery do not touch the battery throughout the rest of the removal process. There is a metal bracket at the bottom of the battery bin which keeps the battery in place. This must be removed by unbolting the 10mm bolt which holds the bracket in place. Once this is removed you can lift the battery out of the battery bin. Installation is the exact reversal of this procedure.
