Hoover steam vac..F7452-900. not working in wash-auto rinse mode

I have a Hoover steam vac..F7452-900. When I run on Rinse I have no problem, water runs fine and suction is fine. When I switch to wash-auto rinse, nothing comes out of the cleaner (no water & no cleaning solution). I have tried just hot water in the cleaning solution reservoir and still nothing flows. Now, it will flow out of the reservoir, just not through the machine.

would it still be the pump if I can run the rinse? Water goes through the steamer, so if I add cleaner to the water in the water reservoir, I can clean that way, just not in the wash/auto rinse mode where it would combine the cleaner with the water?

It is not the pump. If it sprays on rinse the pump is fine. An easy test is to plug in the accessory hose and the spray nozzle hose. If it shoots liquid, there is no pump problem.
You have a bad solenoid. There are two solenoids that control water/solution flow after the pump. A gravity solenoid and a pressure solenoid. The acessory wand byasses both solenoids which makes for a good test.
If you are getting rinse water then the gravity solenoid is fine. If you are not getting solution then the pressure solenoid is bad. Part number 25686056, 14 bucks at Is not a big deal to replace if you are comfortable tearing apart your carpet washer. Its the solenoid on the right side of the cleaner if you are standing in front of it.

Edward- on mine pump is ok and water comes from both sides on forward autowash stroke. Get nothing on backward autowash stroke or on both forward and backward rinse-only setting.

Edward- on mine the pump tests ok. I get water out both sides on forward stroke with autowash setting. I get nothing out on backward stroke. If I switch to rinse-only setting I get nothing either forward or backward.

On reverse only the rinse water is supposed to sprays. which is controlled by the reverse switch and the gravity solenoid. If you are getting no fluid when you pull the trigger and pull the unit backwards then the reverse switch is functional. If it were broken you would get solution. The gravity solenoid is most likely bad. Rinse only confirms that. The gravity solenoid is opposite the pressure solenoid on the left side of the machine looking at it from the front. You literally have to take the entire main unit apart to get to it but it is not impossible. A little patience and you're good to go.

Edward- I took out the gravity solenoid. I shook it and felt the armature moving. I tested it with water and it worked. I put it back in. I noticed that the spade lugs seemed very loose so I squeezed them tighter with needle-nose pliers before sliding them on again. The machine was working again! So either the solenoid was frozen and shaking it loosed it up, or the spade lugs were not making good contact. Thanks for your help!

Is a solenoid worth paying to get repaired? Or should I just look to buy a new one?

It may be the pump or solenoid. They work together to dispense solution and water, Still I would have a shop eval for repair

Hoover steam vac dual v carpet cleaner has stopped dispensing soap. Water is still flowing fine

You probably have a solenoid valve which has failed and will not open. This will require replacement of the valve. For temporary use you can mix a soap solution and put it in the rinse tank. The correct mix is 5 ounces of Hoover shampoo to a gallon of hot water.

F7210-900 Steam Vac. will not put out water when switch is in wash position but it will put out water when the rinse position

There are two electrical solenoids inside the hood assembly. One opens to dispense rinse water, and the other dispenses the soap and water solution. It is likely that the soap and water solenoid has failed and will require replacement. A "work around" fix for this is to mix the soap solution in the clear water tank ( 5 oz. of shampoo per gallon of water ), and shampoo that way until the solenoid can be replaced.

When in the wash mode it does nothing, but the rinse works just fine. what do I need to do. I have cleaned this also. Hoover F7220-900 steam vac v2

There are two possible causes:

(1) defective switch in handle (not likely), or

(2) defective electric solution valve in the base of the unit that switches the solution dispense ON and OFF. This requires a major teardown to access, the removal of hood, drive transmission, and the motor cover.

Hoover Steam Vac V2 Deep Cleaner leaking clean water

Fill the tank and determine if the plastic is leaking, or if the valves are leaking. if the tank is cracked, it would need replaced. There is an improved design now available.

You may cycle the valves on the bottom with the eraser end of a pencil.
