That is what is called a reed valve, it only lets air go one way. If i remember correctly, the single finger will face up, so that the air can pump out from the piston into the tank

My 15 HP Ingersoll Rand Air Compressor doesn't start at times due to some load. Heard that there is some air getting caught in the Piston Head post its cut off point and hence there is too much

These pumps have unloaders to help the motor from being overloaded at startup, one type is centrifugal that is built to work off the crank, the other can be a pressure release valve that is set up to release the pressure in the chamber after it shuts down after full pump up. This is typically head as air escaping right after the compressor stops running after a complete fill.

Here is more information on the pressure release unloader.

Good Luck,

I have an ingersoll rand model gr85

The check valve (if equipped with one) will be where the line from the pump head feeds into the tank. Most often there is a copper or flexible stainless steel tube/hose that connects to it. It could also be a blown valve plate gasket or valve that is causing your troubles. It sounds like the pump is fighting the pressure that should be sent to the tank.

My directional control buttons on the gun are sticking

Ingersoll Rand impacts have o-rings that are mounted in the housing or on the valve that are susceptible to swelling and causing the reverse valve to stick!
if you know the model number, follow this link to find the appropriate manual to see the valve set up.

I have an ingresoll rand air compressor model # 242-5D, it has two motors and for some reason one does shut off when it hits the right amount of pressur at 150psi the second continues to run until the...

Does it have separate compressors on tank?. You probably need to adjust cut in and cut out pressure switch. I have seen several air delivery systems that utilize 2 separate compressors, this allowed a backup if the one online failed. The units had unloader valves and the compressor never stops running. A call for air pressure would close unloader valves and unit would pump up and the the valves would unload.

What goes in the small hole on the top of the main compressor cylinder on a 2340L5? Air is escaping and it will not pressurize the tank.

There should be a small bolt in the top center of the head. If the bolt is missing you will need to remove the head only and inspect the valves and valve plate. This bolt screws into the valve plate and holds the assembly together. The bolt may have just broke or the threads in the valve plate stripped out.In either case they need to be replaced!

Air leaking from air pressure switch

Most pressure switches use a diaphragm to activate the contacts that may leak, however, air leaking from the unloader after compressor reaches cut-out is result of in-tank check valve. Easy to check. Turn off power to unit and remove 1/4" tubing at the check valve (follow 1/4 tubing from pressure switch to check valve). If leaking remove from tank and clean debris under seat or replace with generic from Good luck

What is the solution when a ingersoll rand compressor model EP 25 is turn off and then this one made leave out the oil through of the inlet valve ?

Depends on the inlet valve of your air compressor, if it is a total closure type ( flat plate that closes completely) it is either a failure of the inlet valve seals or the control solenoid or other valve that controls the inlet valve.

If it uses a butterfly type inlet valve it is one of 2 things,,,, first if is spun slow after shut down and just oil was lost, the oil stop valve failed to close, if it spun fast and a combination of oil and air was discharged it was a stuck open air end discharge valve.
