Problem connecting to WNR2000 on laptop running vista

I have an ACER laptop running vista home ed sp2 and I cannot connect to my new WNR2000 router. I have brought a netgear wn111v2 which has worked fine with my pc and other laptops ( 2 run xp 1 runs vista). It did connect once but after robooting I cannot get it to connect again. The signal strength is good but even with nothing else connected I can't get this laptop to work. Please Help!

Perform the task below on the wireless VISTA computer:

1. Click START, Click Control Panel then click classic view in left hand side menu.
2. In the main screen, open up NETWORK AND SHARING CENTER.
3. In the left hand side menu open up MANAGE WIRELESS NETWORKS.
4. If you see any name in the list, please select the name and click remove.
5. Once the list is empty, click on ADD, select the first option, ADD A NETWORK THAT IS IN RANGE OF THE COMPUTER.
6. Click on your network name SSID and click on connect. If you have a password setup on the router enter the security key.

Acer notebook with Vista won't connect to home w/l network

Use this tip for a check list : band, encryption, protocol (WPA, WEP?) Do you see your radio signal (SSID)
Do you set an access list on your router? add your Vista PC MAC address to router list or disable access list control.
Be sure to browse internet using a cable connection to router
Try removing access security and check if connection performed
Restore security protection and match router/pc settings,

Acer aspire will not connect to wireless network

Does your home router have a password? The only thing I can think of doing is removing all the preferred access points from your wireless card's utility or windows (located at start => Setting => Net connections => Wireless => Wireless Networks.

Then add your home access point back.
