Please follow the following :

* Make sure that you have connected the Monitor cable firmly.
* Make sure that CPU fan is spinning else check & make it run (your pc won't boot if you missed your fan).
* Check for any unusual beep sounds after you switch on.
* Remove your RAM, Power cables, other Add on cards. Clean/wipe them properly and reinsert them correctly.
* If your PC installed Graphic Card, remove it and run your PC again using your onboard vga port.

Laptop screen won't come on

The problem could be as simple as the hinge switch that switched off the backlight when you close the cover. If the computer seems to start up, but you just can't see anything, wait until the unit has had enough time to fully come up to either the login screen or the desktop (however it's configured to start). Look VERY carefully at the dark scrren to see if you can just make out the login graphics or desktop icons. If you can, then the unit has booted up ok, but your LCD backlighting is not working. This could be because the backlight lamp is defective, or its power supply may be defective, or the little switch back near the hinge of the case is stuck or defective. Check this first.

Device could not start

what device? is *********** board won't start? Or a hardware doesn't start like ram or your printer
If the problem is your motherboard check all your hardwares and connectors like this:
  1. If the motherboard won't start if you click the power button check the LED(the small light bulb on your motherboard) if its glowing. If not, check the connector of your power supply or check the power supply if its working by looking its fan if revolving.
  2. If you push the button and there's a sign of power but didn't start up that will appear on your screen check the connection of your monitor screen to your desktop computer. If it's connected, remove your RAM from the motherboard and insert it to another memory slot to check if it's broken.
  3. Last, if you push the power button and here 1 short beep but the boot screen didn't appeared from your screen check your graphic card. Remove the graphic card and re-insert it again to its graphic card slot and plug in your monitor connector to it. If it still remain that way, buy a new graphic card.

Trying to run ubuntu

It sounds like Ubuntu chose a screen resolution that your monitor doesn't support. For the sake of sanity, I would a reboot and then try booting to Windows to ensure that what camone311 suggests happened isn't so -- I doubt it, as the install process is more involved than just 1 click - there are SEVERAL variables (time, date, username, passwords, how much of the hard drive to use, etc) that have to be set before anything is written to the hard drive.

If you're able to boot to Windows, then I would boot back to the CD and give it another go. At the menu where it says Try Ubuntu... there's an option to change the graphics modes - I would try safe graphics mode or VESA to see if that fixes the black screen problems that you were having.

Stuck on a initializing massg on the window

Hello,

There are multiple steps to resolve this issue along with detailed graphics. Unfortunately, we cannot send graphics through Chat. To view the steps with graphics, please go to the following HP Web site:

http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01330821&cc=us&lc=en&dlc=en&product=60630

If the issue persists even after trying above document than it could be hardware malfunction and the All-in-One needs to be serviced.

Thank you.

FROZEN SCREEN

By David707,
Since posting ma last re: Screen Freezing on external charge; I did manage to get the system back to some normality by pressing the Reset button located underneath the GPS Antenna flap. However this is likely to delete personally stored data on the system.
I should also state that the same problem occurs when I connect the 610 t my PC via the USB connection (another way to externally charge the battery).
A more satisfactory answer required though.
