The pulley may have come from the motor... if it is then it is normally held on to the shaft of the motor by a set screw, if not then it came from the idler arm. The idler arm hooks up to the frame normally of the dryer with a spring , look for rub marks on the arm to show how to install it.
Hope this helps

Look at this: put the 'belt tensioner' back and put the belt on., like one of these...

I have a creda tvr2 tumble dryer. The fan belt has snapped but i I have purchased a new one. I want to know the easiest way to replace it. Cheers

Not totally clear on the particular model, but generally the belt is the same on most dryers.
Definitely do not mess with that thing in the middle there, that is the pivot point for the drum, and the place where the delicate heating elements usually are.

The belt will go all the way around the drum (tumbler); around the motor pully there you see in the opening there, and then arround another pully that is spring loaded to keep the tention on the belt.

It will probably take a tool to pry the spring loaded pully back so you can get the belt on.
Usually too, the machine pops apart with some force if you pry between the seams on the front, either the top pops up, or the front pops forward, then screws inside lead to the rest of the way.

Over all, the front casing will have to move forward so you can get the belt arround the drum, then move back to keep everything from falling in every direction. Once the belt is around the drum, it's just a matter of weaving it around the other two pullies.
It is not an easy task.

My belt is broken on my tumble dryer.took it apart and don't know how to put the new belt on

The belt goes around the drum, through the idler pulley onto the pulley on the motor. The idler fastens into several holes on the floor of the dryer.

The belt around the drum of my dryer broke. i have a new one just need some tips on puting it on. Also when i pulled the drum out there was a white/clear piece, round in size, and a metal clip laying on...

don't know what the pieces are that you found on the floor of dryer, check the front panel for the clip, might have popped off when you took the dryer apart or these things fell out of clothing that were put into dryer.now the belt, rap it around the drum with the ridges touching the drum, smooth side up.stick the drum in place and spin it a few times till the felt in the back is lined up and the rollers are lined up on the drum, stick your head inside the drum and hold the drum up with your shoulder, just pinch the belt together and pull it under the pulley and attach it onto the motor shaft, that's it.picture your pants belt floded in half, around four inches from the folded part pinch the belt together and you'll have a loop on the end, your fingers are the bottom part of the pulley and the loop end is the part of the belt that connects to the motor shaft.hope this helps, let me know how you make out

I have a Kenmore Stacked washer/dryer that was given to me. The dryer has a pretty loud sqweek. Is this normal?

A loud squeek is normally caused by the tension pully or the rear drum rollers seizing. Remove the two screws holding the inspection panel between the washer and the dryer. Remove the panel. Slide a 1/2 inch paint scraper between the top and the cabnet front and releave the spring loaded clips that hold the top on and remove the top. Loosen the two screws at the bottom of the dryer front panel. Looking down inside the front panel remove the two screws holding the front panel to the cabnet. Mark and remove the wires going to the door switch and remove the front panel. At the rear of the dryer remove the inspection plate at the bottom of the dryer and remove the belt from the spring loaded tension pulley. Go the the front of the dryer and remove the dryer drum and belt. Now you can check to see if the rollers are worn or seized and check to see if the tension pulley is seized.
Purches a kit that includes a new belt, drum rollers and tension pulley and replace all. Reassemble the dryer in the reverse as to how you took it apart.
