Question about Canon PIXMA iP4300 InkJet Photo Printer

1 Answer

Magenta cartridge Hi, Having a problem with my Canon ip4300. The orange light is flashing 15times, and when I open it the magenta cartridge is not lit. I have only had the printer a short while, and I have used these ink cartridges before to print off a few photos, but they are all still full, so it is not out of ink that is a problem. There is no orange tape left on the cartridge, and I have tried removing the cartridge and replacing it, but this still hasn't worked. Please could someone help me!

Re: magenta cartridge

I just wrote the same solution but I'm not familiar with this site however, I am JonathanD. I read about the ink cartridges having an expiration date on a chip that prevents the printer from recognizing the ink cartridge after that date. I called Canon to find out where that date is located on the ink cartridge or packaging so I can see how long it's good for when I buy them. They told me that there was no expiration date and the ink is good indefinitely... so I told them what I heard about the chip. I was then put on hold for a while and when they got back on the phone, I was told that they were sending me a new Magenta 8 cartridge "as a courtesy."

What is the reason for orange light flashing 16 times on ip4300?

No need to worry, 16 times blink simply means that you're out of ink for one or more of the cartridges.
Replace and you should be fine.

The orange light on Pixma ip4300 is flashing 5 times.

Hello, the error you describe is for a faulty print head. When the printer is on open the cartridge acces panel, remove all cartridges, remove the printhead and check the printer and printhead golden contacts. If they are dirty clean them with alcohool (make sure, when you clean the printers contacts, the printer cable is pluged off the power). If that dont help you will have to change your printhead (more than 100$).

When i switch on the canon ip4300 printer orange light flashing 5 times

5 flashes indicates a faulty printhead or possibly a problem with the p/head contacts. Try removing the head which is easier if you take the cartridges out first(no tools required) and re-seat it having checked the contacts for dirt.

If that doesn't work it may be that the waste ink tank is full. Try this ...

1. Turn off printer
2. Hold down Resume button and press Power button.
3. Keep holding down Power button and let Resume button go.
4. Press Resume button 2 times then let BOTH buttons go.
5. Green lights will flash and then stop blinking.
6. When green lights are solid, press the Resume button 4 times.
7. Press the Power button and the printer should turn off, if not, press the Power button once more.
8. Your printer should respond as normal.

Orange light flashes if there is any issue with the printer. Please check all the hardware is functioning properly. Check if there is any paper jam. If printer cartridge is installed properly. Printing head is ok.

Printer won't recognize the new ink cartridge

Each cartridge has a electronic chip pre-porogrammed at the factory.
If it is a reputable store they will exchange for the right color as they can return the PM to Canon as defective,

Canon Pixma IP4300 - cartridge recognition preventing any printing happening.

I seem to be having a similar problem with my cannon pixma 4300 as certain others, i have just recently replaced all the inks with " original" cannon inks and all of a sudden it refuses to print anything, it says that one of the inks is not working, ( Yellow) I remove it, replace it again and the light comes on but when the slide retracts the light seems to go off. any ideas would be great, this seems to be a fault i have read a few times.

Solution: Confirm the ink tank(s) are properly installed iP4300

Ensure that the ink tank is installed properly. Open the Top Cover, Paper Output Tray and Inner Cover, and then press on the 'PUSH' mark on the ink tank whose lamp is off until the ink tank clicks into place. Once the ink tank is installed properly its lamp will light red.
Ensure that all the orange tape has been peeled off as shown in (1). If a part of the orange tape remains as shown in (2), remove it completely.

(1) Correct (An L-shaped notch* appears on the ink tank.)

(2) Incorrect (Orange tape remains. Peel off the tape along the perforation.)
