I assume this is a desktop. Unplug the power and remove the covers and see if you can find any details on the mother board then search on that info. I found the PB site but without the year of manufacture, I couldn't find your system.

I have an old GE/Hotpoint dryer ddg6380 bal model. about 1984. I am trying to locate the thermostat and have been told it is below the lint trap. Cant find them, could they be visible on the plate, but...

Unplug the unit. Remove the lint filter...and look down into the opening where the filter was. You should see a folded sheet metal box about 4 inches square and down about 4 inches inside the filter opening. This box is removed by removing the Phillips screws inside the dryer on the interior front wall. You can feel for them with your hand or with a light inside...stick your head into the dryer opening and look down and back toward your feet.

Removing the screws reveals the 2 operating thermostats. As you remove the screws hold the box so it doesn't fall into the blower area below the filter.

When you are re-assembling be sure none of the thermostat wires touch the cover after it's assembled.

Good luck.

Balance Issues

Depending on the model you have the gwl 10 and 11 have a bal sw located under the console the sw may be engaging causing your problem. ( maybe corroded or shorted ) Or in later and current models they also have bal/shock struts on each side, one of the four maybe worn causing your unit to go out of bal.
