Question about Kenmore Washing Machines
I have a Kenmore 70 washer, when I select washing clothes for 10 minutes on normal wash, the washer will fill with water and begin washing but it just continues to wash and does not move to the rinse or spin cycle unless I manually move the dial over to that position.
This assumes that you have a basic Kenmore / Whirlpool top load, direct drive, neutral drain (it doesn't spin until the pump removes most of the water) machine.
First, see the Sears parts site for your washer:
Enter your model number and you'll see a list of major sub-components with diagrams and parts.
This appears to be a timer / timer motor problem.
I'd also look at the Whirlpool / Kenmore direct drive installation and maintenance manual for testing the timer.
