Question about AOpen vKM400Am-S Motherboard
I have a AMD 1700* Build with a aopen Proak73(3) thunderbird motherboard - recently when i turned computer on it would shut down after several attempts i could get computer to boot up - at first i thought it was a power supply going bad because fan on supply wasn't turning - i got that problem repair yes by spraying just a little dw40 lube on base area of fan - sometimes the computer will boot up saying your computer may have a CPU problem and upon several attempts i have been able to get computer to boot up - the motherboard has a red LED lit up on it for a few minutes after it shutes down when the computer doen't boot - i've told by a friend that this is probably a bad motherboad ? Suggestions and if you agree How much Damage in Dollars am I looking at for Parts - my friend suggested getting a board with a CPU also since the other could be fried?
Three in One Oil & DW40 are not suitable for lubing a fan. What you need is a good lubricant. Axle Lub is a good lubricant, it is resistant to break down by heat (it does not evaporate) and a good solid lube. Good to your local General Department Store, which has a Auto Repair Part Section, and look for a good lubricant there. You'll need to open the reservoir that the lube is put in, wipe it out, and put the lube you purchased in.
I have two Antec, both over three years old, fans are just doing fine. The big case fans slowed down, after the first summer, the lube started to evaporate from the heat. I'm sure that's a common problem.
