Question about Olympus Camedia C-755 Ultra Zoom Digital Camera

1 Answer

Zooming causes shutdown

The camera shuts down when I try to use the zoom. It also shuts down intermittently after taking several photos. Olympus wants to replace the circuit board for $182. Is this something I can do myself for less?

Thanks - but unless I'm aware of some internal battery I've replaced the batteries several times with new. The camera still shuts off when it feels like it or especially when I try to zoom in or out. I still need to know if I can fix this myself (new circuit board) or if i should pay Olympus to do it?

I think your battery is weak, not holding current or not enough.

Before buying a new camera's battery, try to discharge the battery because most batteries have memory problems.

Find a small light that is rated up to the battery voltage.
Connects two wires to battery and then to light.
When the light goes out, battery is fully discharged.
Now, charge up the battery with the camera's charger
Try it on the camera.

Camara restrarts

Usually a camera only shuts down, when one of its sensors detects a dangerous situation. somewhere a voltage to high, or somewhere it is overheating. Or the lens is not moving free. With some camera's you can force a shut down, by only pressing the lens a little, or just touching the lens while zooming or focusing. Don't try this, because it can damage the lens system. If nothing off this all happened to your camera, perhaps you should ask a service centre. But please check yourself, when you are focusing or zooming, that you don't touch the lens barrel.

Can someone zoom while taking videos?

Yes you can. The Olympus SP600UZ can definitely zoom in to the subject not only in still but also while taking videos. The same lever(can be found on the location of the shutter button) that you use for zooming in while taking still pictures, should be the same thing that you access to zoom to your subject video-wise

Zooming in

Unfortunately the image is not able to be saved if you have zoomed in on it. The camera does not have the ability to save images that way. You can download the image and use photo editing software to cause that zoomed in effect to happen so that you are able to print the image that way.

Olympus mju zoom 140 35mm camera. shutter has started clicking as if taking when zooming (in or out)even when not pressing the shutter button...?

This is like to be the zoom motor playing up.
If the camera is new[1 year or less] return it.
A repair is not a likely option.

Won't focus when zooming into the subject

It seems that the lense element which mooves while zooming the camera is stucked. normally this happens when the camera suffers a heavy jery, may be by dropping the camera. Resulting into disalingment of the lense assambly. You will need the help of repair shop to solve the problem.
