Question about Canon PowerShot A410 Digital Camera

1 Answer

I cannot seem to download the pictures I have taken on my Canon PowerShot A410 to my computer. I am on the playback setting and I connect my camera to my computer, but I just get a message from Camera Window that says "Cannot detect Camera. Check connection to camera, then retry." I have even downloaded ZoomBrowser EX and clicked on the "acquire images" button but nothing happens. Please help!

Use a card reader to download your pictures to a folder you create on your desktop.

The green light on the back of the camera does not come on when I attempt to download into my computer. The batterys seem ok, I was able to take pictures earlier today and I can view them in the camera

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program.

Trying to download my pictures from Canon Powershot A430 onto my new laptop Windows 7. Downloaded the disk and now trying without success to download my pictures onto the computer. Help??

Supported windows Operating system Windows 98 Second edition(SE)
Windows Me
Windows 2000 Service pack 4
Windows XP SP 1 and SP 2 Canon PowerShot A430 has no update about the new driver software for windows 7 Try doing this direct transfer in your computer 1. Connect the camera to your computer using the supplied USB cable of your camera. 2. Set the mode dial to (playback) and turn on the power.
The camera and computer will be able to communicate. 3. If there is no pop up window that has Canon CameraWindow, Click the [Start] menu and select [all Programs] or [Programs]. followed by [Canon Utilities], [Camera Window], [PowerShot-IXY-IXUS-DV 6] and [CameraWindow] 4. Download the images.
* Download the images using the camera or the computer.
* By default, the downloaded images are saved into the [My Pictures] folder. ** If the above process does not work you can just use the memory card of your camera and connect that on your laptop. (some laptop has built in card reader) The memory card works like a flash drive and you can just transfer files like transferring from one folder to another. ** Issue on the operating system compatibility.

It is certainly the CCD failing. Now you have had it over a year so warranty is out. But there have been instances of certain CCD's being subject to a recall- and the camera being replaced. Give Canon a support a go - you may get lucky.
