Re: Carriage Jam

If you are certain the thaere is no 'jam feed a piece of paper
That is have a sheet line up to go and clear the service button[Is there one on this model?]
Then switch off and leave for 10 minutes.
Switch on and do a head clean.
Come back with the result..

  • Turn the machine on.
  • Open the cartridges door by lifting from the front center of the device until the door locks into place on its own.

I get a message carriage jam and told to clear jam. However there is no paper jam. It tells me door open and it is not open. It seem the door does not go all the way up. I keep getting the message that...

It seems you mistook Carriage Jam as Paper Jam, but they are different issues. Carriage jam means the carriage that carries the cartridges is jammed which needs to be moved or be cleared manually after opening the door.

Please follow the instructions mentioned here (Click Here) [source HP Support].

Good Luck.

Jam in carriage

Your carriage or the mylar strip that tells the carriage where it is in relation to the printer are either dirty or damaged. They are most likely dirty.

With the macine powered off and your carriage out of the cleaning bay, you can slide the carriage from side to side to see if it is hitting something. If it is sticking you can take a clean lint free cloth and wipe down the metal bar that the carriage slides along this will most likely fix your problem. Make sure to power your machine back on after you are done or else your cartridges can dry out.

If this doesnt fix your problem you can try to clean the mylar strip with a damp lint free cloth. The mylar strip is in the backof the machine. If you look through the door opening you should see a thin plastic strip. Very gently clean that and see if your problem gets better. Be very careful not to pull out or break that strip.
If none of this fixes it you should bring it to a authorized HP repairer.
Hope this helps

How to Clear carriage jam on HP PSC 1610 Printer? No obvious paper jam visible.

Dear it's the carriage jam error. so it mean that your carriage is jam not paper. so open the printer where you insert the cartridge. check whether it is jam or what . cartridge carrier is jam kindly turn off the printer and try to move the cartridge head by hand very gently and if seems to be stuck than check for anything which abort him to move freely so than might be anything like dust or else. when you get success in moving the head put some machine lubricant on the rod on which head moves and check it ok.

Issues with my HP Photosmart PSC 7280

I had the same problem. You can access the carriage from the back of the printer. I actually had a jam , however just as you exposing the carriage from the front I did not see a thing.

Carriage jam

It's telling you that something is in the path of the paper or a paper is stuck in the machine. There is a panel on the back that removes quite easily. Check there. Also, check where you put in the ink, there may be a paper in there. Also look for bits of paper. Sometimes in a jam, the paper gets ripped and a piece of it is still there.
