Question about Zojirushi NS-MYC10 Neuro Fuzzy 5-Cup Rice Cooker

Open Question

Our Zojirushi NS-MYC10 is three years old. It has worked wonderfully until the last month. Now water and the rice film bubble up through the steam vent, run down the sides and form a milky puddle on the counter. This has happened with two kinds of rice, Calrose and plain white. I can think of only one thing that is found in the instruction manual. It says when cleaning the steam vent, not to remove the packing. I have routinely disassembled the steam vent (not the reverse stopper valve) and washed the three components of the steam cap. I have even put the packing in the dishwasher. Is this the problem? I will then order a complete new steam vent and treat it correctly.

SOURCE: how to clean Zojirushi NS-MYC 18 rice cooker

I just took my lid apart on my rice cooker. My suggestion for dealing with the dirty stainless steel cover under the vent hole is to not look at it! The lid is not designed to come apart. I had to pry the top cover off of the lid. Once again just don't look in the vent hole and everything will be fine. (sorry about the bold letters my bold got stuck.) Have fun with the yuck in the vent hole.

Most of the Zojirushi rice cooker manuals are available from the company's support site: http://www.zojirushi.com/support/manuals_ricecookers.html . For the NS-WAC18, see the manual for the NS-WAC10/18 manual. The direct link to the manual is http://www.zojirushi.com/servicesupport/manuals/manual_pdf/nswac10_18.pdf .
