The ignition module on the engine may have gone bad. it may need to be replaced. Plus check air filter to make sure it is clean.

My 2 year old craftman lawnmower stopped working because it ran out of oil. I replaced the spark plug , new oil, gas and still won't start. Is it done or can it be repaired?

It's toast. Without oil the pistons get so hot they expand . It could have locked the engine up. Probably best to get a replacement engine for it.

Sprayed down lawnmower with water, now it won't start. I decided to "wash" the lawnmower last week and now it won't start. And the really weird part is the solenoid clicks every minute...

Engine will not run with no spark or a weak spark. Continuity test will only reveal that the winding is not open, not if you are producing a weak spark that will not jump the spark plug gap.

Snapper lawnmower will not start - sparkplug is good, air filter clean, no idea what is wrong

Try a touch of starting fluid right into the carburator by taking the air filter off. If it then starts but wont run or stay running, the reservoir below the carb should be removed to clean at and the pinhole in the vertical intake tube above the bowl nut. This is the most common problem with lawnmower start problems, the pinhole can be unplugged with one wire from a wire brush. Be careful with the gas, at least pinch off the gas hose with a vise grips while removing the carb bowl.. Never use a droplight around gasoline. most lawnmowers have no mixture adjustments, so it is a matter of cleaning the carb, tank, gas lines. Some oils in gas mix systems settle and clog after less than one season. Spark can be tested by sight, remove the plug and use a clip-on ground wire from spark plug body to metal on the engine with the plug wire connected.

Mine sometimes has no fire and I find it is usually the cable operated kill switch is too slack and not releasing the very poorly and cheaply designed kill switch.

Ran great sat. but would not start sun. same gas changed plug air filter gas soaked with it off still not running tried putting gas in spark plug hole still not running this is a craftmans 2 cycle leaf...

Were you running a fuel mixture of 40:1(3.2 oz of 2 cycle oil to 1 gal of gas), that you mixed up before you started using it again. The unit may have had to much use on Saturday and may be burned up. Try to have a compression test done on the engine, needs to be at least 100 psi to run. If that proves to be good then you can start looking at Fresh gas mixture, a new spark plug, Carburetor rebuild or an ignition module.

Turns over but does not start new spark plug in riding craftman lawnmower

First, make sure you are sitting in the seat as the seat has a safety switch under it that will prevent it from starting if noone is on it.
Check for spark,If no spark,Coil is not working.
Check for fuel at carb,If no fuel, check filter and Carb may needs cleaning or replaced.

If you have spark and fuel and it still won't start,It is a timing issue.

I have a lawnmower with a BSA 3.5 engine that I cannot start, the problem seems to be no spark at the spark plug. As I have never worked on a lawnmower I have no idea what generates the spark on...

Test for spark by placing a screwdriver into the spark plug wire and holding it close to a bolt on the engine. should see a spark (blue). If not, problem is likely the armature (coil). The coil is located under the engine shroud and held in place by two bolts. If you replace this part, (normally $30 to $40) you must ensure a proper air gap. Auto parts stores have inexpensive repair manuals to help.
