Question about Weber Q Grill

How to Clean The OUTSIDE of my Weber Q BBQ?

I am interested in knowing how to go about cleaning the outside of my Weber Q BBQ. The cream-coloured cast iron casing has turned brown at either end - due I expect to the heat of the BBQ.

Maybe it can't be cleaned, but I would be interested to know what to do, if indeed it can be. Can someone recommend what I should use as a cleaner? I have tried Fantastic, Vim, bleach, even Ajax, but the stain stays virtually unchanged - even when rubbing it with a cloth, brush, SOS pads or fine steel wool.

Thanks,

Ian

Hello stevie66, disconnect the gas tank, carefully remove the burner element (the thing with the small holes) and soak it in a bowl of vinegar overnight. Remove and shack the excess out, remount and connect the gas. Open the gas line about 1/4 turn and CAREFULLY LIGHT. Please E-Mail the results. Thank you.

SOURCE: Converting Weber Genesis Silver B from LP to Natural Gas

Hello...I have the same grill and want to do the same conversion...From my research, you need to drill out the three orifices with a size #53 wire gauge drill bit. ( this resizes each orifice to 12000 BTU's each, which the grill is rated at 36000 BTU's).Then remove the existing hose and regulator. Replace the hose with a Quick disconnect compression fitted hose. The NG supply needs to have a pressure regulator installed, with a shutoff and quick disconnect fitting installed. Connect the hoes from the grill to the supply, and fire it up...THIS IS WHAT I INTEND ON DOING TO MY GRILL,BUT YOU DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK>>>

My Bar B Chef grill grates are totally rusted. Are stainless steel grates better or should I stick with cast iron?

I prefer cast iron. Cast iron heats more evenly and retains temperature better. If they are falling apart from rust, junk them. If they just have surface rust and no holes, all you have to do is brush them with a steel brush at high heat. Wipe them off with a wet rag and then rub it with an onion to provide a teflon layer. if it is really heavy rust, spray oven cleaner on them and hose off. After use or for storage, clean them and then wipe them down with a cooking oil soaked rag. The oil will reduce rust build up.

Rocks have turned brown - is there a cleaning solution to remove the build-up?

outside adornments that turn colour do so from the water used. It is normally a higher than normal iron content in the water or surrounding soil. Try spraying the rocks with CLR and leaving for a time to work

Weber silver b. cooking grate has rusted. what is it made of. terrible!

Steel with either a black porcellian finish or a chrome finish. Depends on the model.

Stainless Steel or Cast Iron is my personal favorite. It wears extremely well and is easy to clean.

The rubber flexable hose for my Weber baby Q bbq is leaking. I have demantled it , but where can i buy a new hose? Thanks Andrew

Hello,
Take it to your local propane co and have them make up a new hose for you. Be sure to bring the hose and regulator, or just bring the whole grill with you, so they can see what you have. Some bbq hose ends don't have regular swivel brass fittings on them anymore, bit instead use a hose barb adapter to reattach directly to the grill. So I'd suggest bring it all just in case you have one of those kinds. Douglas

Weber Silver BBQ has 3 burners only 1 has normal flame.

you may have to remove the burners and clean the inside of them. they could have insect webs inside preventing the flow of gas. hope this helps. also, try opening the tank really slowly.
