Question about Washing Machines

Model # 11047561600. Soap and bleach dispenser is filled with water at end of cycle. Put color safe bleach in the dispenser and it leaks out. Tried to run a clean washer cylce. After 2 minutes time remaining had rL rather than the time. The liquid clorhine bleach is still in the dispenser. Did not know you could not put he color safe bleach in the dispenser. Problem started with the use of that bleach in the dispenser. How do we fix this?

I tried using hot water and vinegar to into the detergent container and then tried to re-run the clean washer. The message was the same--rL. I presume this is an error message since the process was stopped. Is the detergent still getting through? There is none left in the dispenser after a regular wash. If I simply put the color safe bleach into the washer rather than dispenser will this be OK? How do I undo what has been done?

Hi,
Please post Make so I can assist further if required.

Most problems regarding dispenser drawers that fill up, and remain full, are because the outlet of the dispenser is blocked.

Remove the drawer from the machine by depressing a catch visible when the drawer is open. Use gloves - as you still have bleach in there.
With the drawer removed - dump into a sink of hot water, and take any removable parts off it.
Use standard washing-up liquid to clean it, but I advise you use a small stiff bristled paintbrush to remove any solid deposits, and possibly a wire pipecleaner to clean out waterways.
When you are sure it is clean, re-assemble and dry the outside.

Squirt a multi-surface cleaner into the machine drawer area, and use a cloth to clean out any residue in there. Don't loose the cloth down the inlet pipe to the machine!

Replace drawer in machine - and run a hot wash with only a few drying cloths in there - as bleach may remain.

Try to use an oxygen based bleach rather than chlorine in machines, as this seems to affect the rubber and plastic components less. If the plastic in the drawer assembly is visibly damaged, then replacements of the drawer unit are available.

The chlorine bleach mixed with the detergent and clogged the lines.Chlorine, water, and machine detergent are all alkaline (opposite of acid) and they have mixed together, forming a mass that now is blocking the hose.
This is a problem, because the chlorine mix cannot be solved using non acid detergents, and any acid product will just mix with the bleach and can react damaging the appliance.
Try heating some water . Use a Kettle or a pot of hot water, and slowly pour the water inside the detergent drawer. If that does not work, try adding half glass of vinegar or lemon juice per liter of water. This will make the solution slightly acid , and more effective with the bleach and detergent paste inside the hose.
Be very careful not to injure yourself with the hot water while heating and pouring the water inside the drawer.
If that is not enough, the the hose must be removed disassembling the appliance and unclogged using a flexible shaft.

I do most of my shopping online and liquid bleach sometimes doesn't ship without breaking. Is it OK to use dry or powder bleach? I have the whirlpool cabrio top load large capacity model.

It should be okay to use dry bleach, if you follow the instructions on the bleach. Some bleaches require dissolving in water first, others can be used dry.

Bleach and Fabric Dispenser not working

Got a Brand new LG ~ WT5001CW toploader today. I did 2 loads of wash. Theres a Bleach Dispenser on the top left side but I didn't use it. In the middle of my 2nd wash I noticed the bleach dispenser was full of water. I thought well maybe after the rinse and the spin it would take the water out. Well when the cycle was complete the Bleach Dispenser was still full of water.
I took the Bleach dispenser out and checked the holes to see if anything was plugged, didn't look like it. Was wondering if anyone knew how to solve this problem or do you think that since I took the bleach dispenser out and put it back it that it might work for my next load ??
Any opinions will be greatly appreciated !! Thanks Much !!

Whirlpool bleach dispenser not dispensing properly

It sounds like the bleach dispenser is clogged or has a crack in it. What we do, is when we bleach our clothes and I know that this is extra work, but we wait until the washing machine is full of water, then add the bleach directly to the wash.

LG 2077 CW-has IE code issue as well as soap dispensing problems

IE is an inlet error indicating that the machine has not filled up to the correct water level within 10 minutes. Could be a bad inlet valve, low water pressure or a problem with the inlet hoses (do not use anti flood hoses with these machines, use only the included fill hoses).

It sounds like all of your problems lie with the water fill. If the dispenser compartments do not get water added to them then the soap, bleach, and/or softener will not dispense properly. Then it will still be present and may dispense on the next load instead.

It is also VERY important that you use an HE (high efficiency) detergent and the correct amount (2-3 tablespoons per load). Otherwise you could end up with oversudsing issues which can also keep the bleach from dispensing properly.

Also make sure to not use GEL bleach, GEL detergent or GEL softener as they are too heavy and will not dispense properly. If all of these recommendations do not help then there is a definite issue with the incoming water supply from the inlet valves (especially if the IE errors continue). In that case you will need a technician to check the inlet valves inside the machine.

Hope this helps, please rate my solution.

Can I use color safe bleach in my new cabrio, and if so where do I put it?

According to the manual on pages 12 & 13.

1.
Place a load of sorted clothes into the washer. See “Laundry
Tips.”
■ Load evenly to maintain washer balance. Mix large and
small items. Items should move easily through the wash
water.
■ Load only to the top of the basket as shown. Overloading
can cause poor cleaning. Items need to move easily
through the wash water.
2. Pour measured powdered or liquid High Efficiency detergent
into the detergent dispenser. Always use the detergent
dispenser, and do not put detergent directly onto clothes in
the washer.
3. Add color-safe bleach (powdered or liquid) to this dispenser,
if needed. Be sure to match powdered color-safe bleach with
powdered detergent or match liquid color-safe bleach with
liquid detergent.
4. Pour measured liquid chlorine bleach into the liquid chlorine
bleach dispenser, if needed. Bleach is diluted and
automatically dispensed at the proper time during the wash
cycle.
■ Do not overfill. Do not dilute. Do not use more than 1 cup
(250 mL) for a full load. Use less with a smaller load size.
■ Follow the garment and the chlorine bleach
manufacturer’s directions for proper use.
■ To avoid spilling, use a cup with a pouring spout. Do not
let bleach splash, drip, or run down into the washer basket.
■ At the end of the cycle, a small amount of water may be
left in the dispenser. This is normal.
NOTE: Use only liquid chlorine bleach in this dispenser.

5. Pour measured liquid fabric softener into the fabric softener
dispenser, if desired.
■ Do not overfill. The dispenser holds 3 oz (94 mL), or a
capful of fabric softener.
■ The fabric softener is dispensed in the final rinse. If Extra
Rinse is selected, the fabric softener will be dispensed
during the Extra Rinse.
■ Do not spill or drip any fabric softener onto the clothes.
■ At the end of the cycle, a small amount of water may be
left in the dispenser. This is normal.
NOTE: Use only liquid fabric softener in this dispenser.
6. Close the washer lid.
7. Press POWER. This turns on the washer display.
8. Select a Wash Cycle. See “Cycles.”
9. Select the desired Modifiers. See “Modifiers.”
10. Select an Option, if desired. See “Options.”
11. Select Delay Wash, if desired. See “Delay Wash” in the
“Modifiers” section.
12. Press START. The wash cycle begins, and the display shows
the estimated remaining time. The lid will lock.
NOTE: If you do not press Start within 5 minutes of pressing
Power, the washer automatically shuts off.

The way that I read the manual, your color safe bleach would go in the detergent dispenser. Your liquid chlorine bleach would go in the bleach dispenser.

Please rate this solution

We had the same problem- for us it was because we were mixing laundry booster (Oxyclean) with liquid soap in the dispenser. It seems the water running through the tray had insufficient pressure to properly flush the tray out, so residue accumulated on the back & underside of the tray. Our water pressure is good here, and we don't use a water softener or filters that can reduce the pressure. Unfortunately it seems to just be a bad design of the soap dispenser tray.

We also had a problem with water/bleach leaking from our soap dispenser- when we used the bleach compartment in the dispenser we got leaks dripping onto the floor from behind the front cover of the washing machine. It was running down the front of the washer behind the front cover & coming out onto the floor. The repair guy said this was because the dispenser tray was pulled out too far, but the reason we were pulling the soap tray out so far was because the bleach compartment was too far back in the tray to use if we didn't. Now we just leave the drawer partially closed & pour the bleach directly into the soap compartment along with the soap.
