Question about Philips Magnavox 51MP392H Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

HD input I just had Verizon Fios installed and when I put the signal into the AV4 [HD] input, the picture is greenbut it is HD. It works fine with the standard inputs but I don't get HD. Verizon came back and replaced the box but to no avail.. They said it was the input of the TV.

On the Magnavox projections, only one of the inputs supports hight than 480p input IE: 720p, 1080i. Make sure it is the correct input.

Wont connect to verizon dvr box, its connected to the video out cable and the fios tv cable.

Make sure that the dvr is not outputting a HD signal to your set - if it is, your set will not work unless you change the signal to 480 from the HD setting.

I got a hd box and the channels keep cuttin out

Hello, I actually install HD boxes for Verizon Fios. If your video signal is too low, you will notice "Pixellation" (Those weird square boxes that come and go) and in some cases, you will not even be able to receive some channels at all. HD channels use much more bandwidth than standard definition channels. The good news....there's a fix. If you use standard cable (Not Fios) you can buy a signal booster. These can be purchased at best buy, Radio Shack, etc. It is a powered device that plugs into an outlet (110v) You take your cable company's input or "Feed" run it into the booster, connect the power, and the run a coax cable out of the booster and into your splitter. Assuming all of your cabling is up to par, this will fix your problem. If you have Verizon Fios, you must call and have us come out as our tv service uses "Moca" and cannot be boosted with a store bought unit. I hope this helps.

Picture goes bad when playing Verizon Fios DVR or On Demand

I had issues when I set an SD override for the box, it would sometimes display as bad input when switching to HD content(as well as display all menus in SD even with HD mode in settings.) Turning that off in settings (also turned off "modes" which has no description) stopped it and gave me guide/menus in HD.

Zoom Function and Verizon Fios TV

On the verizon FIOS tv box, turn the FIOS STB on, and turn on the tv, tap the following buttons on the Verizon FIOS STB )in this order) 1-Power, then Select, then Menu. This will bring up the FIOS STB HD options. Arrow down to 4:3 Bypass and set the bypass option to 480P. Hit power 2 times, once to turn off, second time to turn STB back on. This should on standard channels give you the zoom feature back. This worked on my Samsunf 5053 TV model.

HDMI crap out

I got the solution. Contact Customer Service, ask for LEVEL II Tech, and ask them for the old firmware. It will take a lot of pressuring, but they will send it to you and then it will work fine!

AV4 input

To get your over the air signals, you would of course hook up the outside antenna cable to the back of the TV set, as per the owners manual. Then go to channel search in the set up menu as per the owners manual, then do a guide plus set up and follow the directions word for word in the owners manual. It is just way to long to explain here. In case you do not have the owners manual, you can get one from here Good Luck
