I purchased an inexpensive MP3 player, man by RCA. When I plugged it in it auto-installed a program called RCA Easy Rip... as well as an online weather service called Weather Bug (genius joint venture? I think not).
I didn't find the program to add value or be helpful and they auto start and continue to attempt daily updates.
I was able to uninstall Weather Bug but I cannot uninstall RCA Easy Rip. When I go to the Control Panel and attempt to do so it just flashes a screen and does nothing.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of.(from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones)
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. Goodluck!

Hi, If you are using windows XP or vista, go into your start menu (start in the bottom left corner of your screen) click on control panel and then onto add or remove programs. There you will see any programs installed. Click then follow the instructions. Once removed, they can never be accessed.
Please let us know if that was helpful enough.
Good Luck & Thanks,
If you are running windows vista or XP, try running the easyrip installer as an administrator. To do this, right click the installer program file, and choose "run as administrator" (third one from the top). Hope that helps.
That Opal's Easy Rip Software does not recognize Real Video format naturally. You may have to download a free program called Riva FLV Encoder to convert the Real Video files to AVI format. Once they are in AVI format, the Easy Rip software will recognize the file and convert them to your player. If you have lost your installation CD, you can get the Easy Rip software from: www.rcaopal.com
Plug your RCA M4208GR-B MP3 player into your computer with the USB cord. After the computer recognizes it. STEP 1 click start STEP 2 click MY COMPUTER STEP 3 Right click the associated drive letter (i.e. OPAL) to show the option menu. STEP 4 click "install RCA easy rip"
Make sure you have the updated Easy Rip software from RCA's website and that the lock switch on the back of the player is not turned on.
RCA M4208 Make sure the lock switch on the back is in the unlocked position. For the player to say "Loading," especially the first time you plug it into the computer, is normal - your computer is communicating with the player, installing drivers, and trying to load the Easy Rip Software. If it stays on loading past 10 minutes, however, something is not right. If you have selected to open the device automatically using Windows Media Player, you are headed for trouble, especially if you have more music and other files on your computer than the mp3 player can handle. If you have accidentally done this, disable auto-sync in Windows Media Player. If you have checked the above, and you are still having problems, disconnect the mp3 player from the computer. Hold in the power button for 10 seconds or more to reset the mp3 player. Try plugging the mp3 player into the computer again. If it stays on loading for more than 10 minutes, unplug the mp3 player, go into the settings menu and change the mode from MSC to MTP or vice versa. If it still misbehaves when you replug the mp3 player into the computer, download the latest Easy Rip software from RCA's website and update your player's firmware - take note of the section they have on Windows Vista if you have Windows Vista. Good luck! -Tha Mp3 Doctor
There are ways to work around the easy rip. If its mp3's you want on it you can drag and drop them into the opal folder. If you want smv video files you need to. you need two programs. 1st program is http://www.any-dvd-converter.com/products/for_video_free/ (free program) It lets you change all video formats to mpeg is the setting I like then after its an mpeg. You use http://www.soft29.com/freeware/smv_converter.htm (free Program) It converts the files to smv (video file that Opal accepts)
