Question about Televison & Video

1 Answer

I am still having problems with a Mitsubishi 60" projection TV Vs-6051. I know that the set is old and some of the codes and suggestions that I received do not work on this set. The chasis is VZ2. The values for all 52 of the color calibrations are off. Also, the screen is distorted. Any suggestions?

All the IC's will have to be replaced or if you have the STK's, they should be replaced. A manual and tester would be a good idea to have. The convergance is off. If your model has a convergance board, you can get a capacitor tester and test the caps

Sounds like bad solder around the power supply or deflection circuits. take the back cover off and using something non conductive i.e a wooden salad spoon try knocking on some of the heatsinks and around the circuit if it reacts it may help you pinpoint the area of the problem. next you`ll need to pull out the circuit and solder the connections that look weak, they might have a ring like hairline crack around the solder joint. good luck and don`t forget to unplug before working on it.you dont want to end up with curly hairs

Mitsubishi VS-60705 - picture flutters vertically and horizontally

This sounds like one of the 9 volt regulators on the small signal board is going bad, supplying less than 8 volts. I have seen this is several of those sets. The IC needs to be replaced and if you do not have experience in servicing projection TV's then I suggest letting a qualified tech handle it for you.

VS-6051 fuzzy picture

Those three Knobs were the focus or screen controls . your problem may be dust and dirt on the lens or the tubes could be getting soft. It could also be a convergence trouble and thats very common in these sets . a picture would be nice see where your problem lies BUT let me warm you down there where you were plying and turning those little knobs is about 32000 volts!!did you know this ? A tv set is not something to experiment with as it could kill ya. Unless you have technical background in electronics I would call a servicer to assist you. Good Luck
