Question about Evoluent Vertical Mouse - Right Hand

Open Question

Evoluent VerticalMouse 3 Rev 2. Scroll wheel issues.

Model: Evoluent VerticalMouse 3 Rev 2. Scroll wheel scrolls very erratically. Sometimes the document (be it word, pdf or other) does not move in response to wheel movement; mostly it does, but when it does, the action is not smooth, and unpredictably fast or slow.
I have already sent one VerticalMouse back to Amazon for this reason, but I have the same problem with the replacement. I have tried reloading drivers etc., and playing with the wheel settings (including the accelerated scrolling function), but the problem persists.

My scroll wheel skips, jumps, scrolls backward or on its own. Can I fix it?

Take the roller ball out of the bottom of your mouse if it's the older style and clean the dirt and dust of the roller wheels with a q tip and alcohol. If it is an optical mouse try putting a piece of white paper under it when you use it this may help. If not it is time for a new one.

Evoluent mouse keeps disconnecting.

You might try looking at this photo stream:

Iwonder if the main cable/wire, which takes a 90 degree turn inside, under the circuit board, could be the problem. I pulled my wire/cable out from under there (after removing the board's screws), and un-crimped it. Currently trying it that way. Haven't tried the method in the photostream above.

Scroll wheel not functioning at all

Initially, go and buy some elctronic switch cleaning spray and spray all around the mouse especially the wheel and this may clear all the dust and skin particles that block mouse and leyboards during PC usage. If this does not work, re install it and see if that is any better.

Remove cover

There are four screws on the bottom of my VerticalMouse 3 Rev. 2. Two are immediately visible. A third screw is hidden under the nylon "foot" near the USB cable; use a small flat screwdriver (e.g. for eyeglasses) to remove the foot without damaging it. A fourth screw lies hidden near the bottom of the big label containing the model number, etc.; you must push the screwdriver through the label.
