Your problem could be faulty heater element and or faulty thermostats.
This is a normal problem if the blower is blowing cold air.

How hot should a gas or electric dryer get, mine seems too hot

if the dryer is running hot it's because you haven't cleaned out the dryer?try running it with the vent line disconnected from the back of dryer,if the vent line is a long run from the back of dryer to the outside vent i use a leaf blower to blow out the line, make sure the outside vent is clear first,no screens or cages in the way,if there is remove them all they do is catch lint, next unplug the dryer, clean out the duct that the lint filter slides into, vac out the inside of dryer where the motor is,if you have a shop vac that blows on one end blow off the motor and blow all the lint from the back of dryer to the front so you don't have to remove the drum,do this once a year and you shouldn't have to many problems with the dryer

Dryer doenst stay hot

It is possible that it is the high limit, make sure that the vent is free of debris ie lint. Also confirm that the blower fan is turning that blows the air out of the vent. if thd vent is clogged it will cause the high limit to open and also the high limit will open if the vent blower is not turning.

Amana dryer

If you have voltage across the heating element and it does not heat, replace the element. If you have no voltage, trace it back to the thermostat and control board.
