Compaq D510 sff Dma problem

Hey,
i recently re-installed windows xp on my desktop and now when i burn a cd or dvd it runs really slow, i've tried forums and have updated my bios to v3.18 and have followed their help tips but still when i go into device manager>IDE ATA/ATAPI controllers>secondary IDE channel, it still tells me that device 0 in set to PIO mode. the transfer mode is set to DMA if available these are my specs,
DVD/CD-ROM drives
HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-H42L
Secondary IIDE channel
intel(R) 82801DB Ultra ATA Storage Controller - 24CB
Supported DMA modes: UDMA 0-4
Current DMA mode: UDMA 4

Appreciate your help,

    Hey Chrissyo,
Ive tried all the driver updates and rollback options but i can't seem to get it to work, a friend from melbourne told me that it was a problem with the mainboard not being able to cope with a newer style DVD drive and software, ive gone into my bios and changed the settings to UDMA 4, but when i'm in hardware manager it still tells me it's running on PIO mode even though nero tells me it's on ultra dma.

Those might have been your specs but if you have updated windows some of your drivers autamatically change. Try rolling back the drivers or updating them again. The drivers change frequently when windows hot fixes are dowenn loaded your setting that you had and are trying to set it at are the ones when the system was new.

Oh mind you that other computers or systems are only designed for Windows XP and the Drivers that are installed on that machine are XP compartible. Now that you are using windows 7, it could be an issue that Windows 7 operating system does not recognize the device being your CD drive.. You need to go on the HP official website and look for the drivers (the whole packge ) for your computer model and check if Windows 7 operating system is compartible with the machine. Otherwise the solution is to go back to Windows XP...
