Denon AVR 1803

Hello, I have a problem with my Denon Unit not switching component inputs. It has worked fine up until now with no change to any connections. I have a set top box connected to component Input No 1 and a DVD Player connected to Component input No 2. The audio is switching fine. When I select the different sources, nothing appears to be output to the componnet out.. It's not the monitor, when I connect directly the TV is fine.
Hope someone can help.

    Hi,

My denon unit does not output any image to my plasma through the component or av cables. I have tried both.

There is a set top box connected to video1 and a dvd player to video 2.

Could it be a setup problem?

Thanks for any help i can get.

Hello, I think that you've got a problem in the relay circutry or a logic problem. tell ya what I ve got the service manual and schematic for the reciever. the engineers at denon where ahead of there time when this company started. they designed the equipment around what they wanted the specs to be for signal to noise and discrete audio channels. each of the sound channels from the component and composite inputs is given its own bus and amplifier channels. these paths are also common to the reciever/tuner outputs. one question though you mentioned that the composite/component video paths are not switching from the input to the output youve designated, and that the monitor checks good. do you have another video source, either digital or analog that you can input throgh another channel to see if it is infact a switching problem. try that and let me know. I can give you help with the switching circutry form the schematic if need be. believe me I know It took me about a week to track down the service schematic for this unit. Denon doesn't like giving out info unless you are an authorized repair center.

Look in the Owners manual for a Reinitialize procedure , Restores everything to Factory defaults. Usually consists of Holding a couple switches while turning on main power. All Lights Should light up to verify Initialization. Then setup unit like you just bought it.

How can I connect my I pod Touch to my Denon AVR 1803 receiver?

The best way to connect an older IPod or other MP3 player to the AVR-1803 is to use a 3.5 mm (M) to RCA audio cable. This will work for audio on all IPods (and video on some of the older IPods). Here's an example: http://www.amazon.com/3-5mm-Audio-Video-Cable-iPod/dp/B000STBSU4 . Connect the 3.5 mm end to the headphone jack; the RCA plugs go into one of the AVR-1803 RCA inputs.

For some IPods, try a connector like this: http://www.amazon.com/Cables-Unlimited-iPod-Connector-Cable/dp/B000CBFVXS . This connects to the docking port on the IPod.

I hope this helps.

How can I connect my I pod Touch to my Denon AVR 1803 reveiver?

Connect the 3.5mm cable to the iPod headphone output and the two RCA plugs into any unused analogue audio input on the Denon AVR 1803. Then choose the appropriate input on the Denon, press play and enjoy the music. Be careful about volume. Start with the volume on the iPad low and adjust to suit.
Cheers, Don.

My denon avr 1803/883 shut off while playing a cd that had only been in for 5 minutes. there have been no changes to the inputs or additions to speakers. atthis time when i turn it on it is on for about 10...

CHECK IC101 AND IC102 THESE ARE THE + AND - 15VOLT REGULATORS. iF THEY ARE OFF BY MORE THEN 3 VOLTS IT WILL SHUT THE UNIT DOWN/IC101 IS THE +15V AND IC102 IS THE -15V IF THESE VOLTAGES ARE GOOD THEN THE UNIT IS GOING IN TO THE PROTECT MODE AND YOU WILL HAVE SHORTED OUTPUT TRANSISTORS. I HOPE THIS HELPS YOU.

Shuts off then red light indicator flashes, disconnected all speakers but still wont work

Hi, this is a power board issue. remove the cover and make sure that this unit doesn't have blow fuse. if the fuse is fine, you will then need to replace the integrated power/ main board.

Static from right from speaker

The noise is in the pre-amp stages of the Denon AVR. It might be caused by bad capacitors.
