Question about Pioneer DVR-111 DVD±RW Dual Layer Burner

1 Answer

Pioneer DVR-111L. Laser seems to have enough power to ruin a blank disc but not enough power to write a disc to be recognized by auto insert notification.

Answer #1 is the most obvious one, of course.

Another Lite_On drive does not exhibit the same symptom. but one does hope for a secret solution, doesn't one?

Perhaps I overused the Pioneer drive.

Could be any number of things.

1. Bad burner; replace the burner.
2. Power supply not putting out enough voltage. Check with voltmeter and replace as necessary.
3. Auto notifications are turned off in windows. Turn them back on.
4. You are not writing an "autorun.inf" file to the main directory on the disc.

Yes, it would be convenient if there was a way to fix them but the sad fact is that it is cheaper to replace a defective drive then to attempt to fix the laser or the laser power source in this case. Unfortunately, there is no magical solution that you can try.

Thanks and please take a moment to rate this as fixya.

Insert blank dvd rw but after trying to load ejects. weird as it plays all dvd's fine

Hi, well even though it plays OK what's wrong is that the record laser is faulty, and when it "Tests" the inserted media, with the record laser to see and set the power levels it fails as it is faulty and thus ejects the disc. Replace the unit, repair is un-economic. In saying that it may be advisable to get a "Quote" from an approved repairer?

The burner is defective: the laser sensor is not working correctly. It cannot be fixed, you will need to replace the burner.

Try cleaning the laser pick-up by inserting any ordinary CD (or DVD) cleaning disc and use as described by the manufacturer of it. Possibly dirty laser. Otherwise you may need to replace the reader as described on another website.

My dvd burneer wont reconise dvd discs

This is correct, as there is no TOC on a blank disk there is nothing to read. it is your writing software that identifies blank media when inserted, so you may wish to check your software is appropriate for your requirements Cheers :D
