Most of the time this is caused by your water. Try doing a load of laundry with a gallon of bleach before you do your next load. Then make sure you use some sort of softener with your clothes for washing and drying. Don't go cheap with this select a good brand. When your not using your washer try and leave your lid up, if a front loader leave it cracked. This will let it breathe and mildew will not build up from your water still at the bottom and in your lines. Let me know how this works for you.

Strong soaps can strip oil from your skin. Instead, choose mild cleansers. Pat dry. After washing or bathing, gently pat or blot your skin dry with a towel so that some moisture remains on your skin. How do I get bath towels to absorb water?

As your towel is not absorbing then you should shop towel which is made of cotton. Because cotton towels are best in absorbing water and are very durable also.cotton towels only as they are most comfortable and soaks all the water from the body properly. If you want you also can buy from there.

Musty smell especially in towels

Once towels have had mold grow on them, it's unlikely you will ever get rid of that smell. You can usually tell a towel has had mold grow by discolorations on solid color towels. You probably need to start over with new towels, make sure they are washed and dried frequently and that they don't stay damp for long after showering. If you live in a humid climate, a towel warming rack will help with drying.

Smelly towels

First do this: Start a normal cycle with no clothes in the washer. After the washer agitates (tumbles) a few minutes, pause the washer and look immediately if there are any suds in the machine. There should be no suds what so ever. If you see any, that means there is a build up of soap residue in your washer. That would be caused by an excessive amount of soap usage. You did not say how much soap you have been using. For a large load, use 1 to 2 tablespoons of soap at most (even less if it is 2X or 3X concentrate) and not more than 1 teaspoon of fabric softener if you use it. This is due to the fact that your machine is only using about 12 gallons of water, vs about 45 for your old top load machine. Your towels have soap residue left in them. Wash with no soap for at least one time. If you are doing only bath towels, and towels are used only to dry off your clean body after your shower, they are not dirty, just damp. They do not really need soap to clean them. (and remember to never use fabric softener with towels)

You did not state your model number, but I believe you have a tub clean cycle on it. Run that cycle with no clothes and a front load washer cleaner in it, such as 3 tables of Affresh, or a full bottle of Washer Magic, or Tide front load washer cleaner, or Whirlaway hot tub cleaner, or Smelly Washer Cleaner (

I have also heard some people have had better luck with powdered soap, but I think that the amount of soap being used is really your problem

Musty odor in laundry

I would say that you are getting a build up of soap and oil from our bodies, on the inside of your wash bowl.
The Tubs pull out of the washing machine really easy and then you can water blast the two tubs.Solves this problem?
Once you learn how to pull the tub out you can also clear a blocked pump.
I have a after market lint filter fitted to my F&P washing machine, works wonders .
ask your local whiteware Man for some hints on a Bowl removal.
A five minute job???

washers and dryers dont make smells themselves its a problem with something u might be putting in it. if u tend to add alot more detergent then usual to your towels then they never completely rinse the water out and will have a mildew smell
