When the snowflake is blinking the thermostat in in a delay mode designed to protect your compressor. If it does not stop blinking in 15min the stat is bad otherwise something is wrong with the AC

I have 2 identical units up and down. I have a Honeywell T8411R thermostat and Goodman heat pumps. The upstairs unit was low on refrigerant and was constantly freezing in the high heat and humidity of a NC summer. The blinking icon was telling me the unit had a fault and only the fan was running because the compressor was shut down. A few pounds of coolant fixed my problem. Check cooling tube coming out of the unit for ice, that means it is iced up all the way from inside the house to the outside. Also look inside your exchanger on the inside for ice.

Flashing snowflake

The flashing snowflake means it is in the cooling mode, but is waiting for itself to 'time out' after a call for cooling. It should be about a 5 minute delay then should come on automatically. At that poing, the flashing snowflake becomes steady.

Try it one more time and set the timer on your smart-phone to ten minutes before you touch it again. If that time elapses and no cooling and it is still flashing there's possibly a problem in the thermostat that will necissitate replacement.

Snowflake blinking and air conditioner won't turn on.

If it is blinking it is in a 5 minute time delay.
It should settle to a steady snowflake after 5 minutes and come on normally.
