*********** board installed sigmatel audio is being a original which supports system configuration. you cannot configure or change. So try to use sigmatel headphone.
i use windows 7. my mother board is mercury pi945gcm . i installed sigmatel audio drivers. but they are not working properly. i got stacgui:speaker manager plugin failed in a alert box.
Here is a link to all of the drivers for that motherboard. You should also see the drivers for the audio as well. I would suggest downloading the drivers and making a backup cd when everything is working.
It could be a bad driver, have you checked Sony's site for an update, or looking a non-sony, later version of the driver for the device, perhaps just google SigmaTel [device name]?
Your board is supported by the Intel chipset 845. Intel is supposed to include the intergrated PCI sound card driver for the, AC97 ICH2 audio controller along with the video controller. This link should get you to the AC97 driver. ftp://ftp.fic.com.tw/motherboard/driver/1stUtilities_v1.0/AUDIO/SIGMATEL/
