Question about Acer Computers & Internet

I lost two keys, the E and D, can I buy a set of keys. Would the keys of a regular sized laptop fit and snap back into the E and D space on the ASPIRE? Does anyone know where I can purchase these spare parts?

You can go on ebay and get another keyboard or find a store that carries them and magically remove the from a fake demo laptop

O want to install a new key . What are the steps ,please

A key falling off of a keyboard might be an annoyance, but it is not a reason to buy a new keyboard. Regardless of which key falls off, it can be replaced fairly easily. Although the method of replacing typical letter keys is a little different than replacing the space bar, replacing either of these types of keys can be done in a few minutes.

Carefully pry the key from the keyboard next to the key that has fallen off. This key can easily be pried by sliding a flat-head screwdriver underneath it and popping the key out. Be careful to make sure the key retainer underneath the key stays in place, especially if the key retainer has also fallen off the key you are attempting to fix. Look closely at the key retainer underneath the key that was just removed. Notice there is a notch in each corner of the key designed to hold the key in place. Place the key retainer back into place if it has fallen off the key you are trying to fix. Make sure it is positioned exactly as the key retainer next to it is. Put the key on top of the key retainer. Use your index finger to firmly push straight down on the key to lock the key back into place. Do the same to the key that was taken off to view the other key retainer. b> Replacing the Space Bar b> Turn the space bar upside down and use a flat-head screwdriver to separate the retainer from the back of the space bar key. Place the retainer into its place on the keyboard. The retainer will hook into small hooks on the left and right sides. The small metal bar from the retainer should line the bottom of the area where the space bar will be placed. Put the space bar back into the place where it belongs. Spread the ring finger, middle finger and index finger across the space bar, and push firmly until the key snaps into place. Put the space bar key back in place and gently press on it with fingers until it snaps back in place.

What to look for when buying a laptop?

There is a lot of people who regret buying the "budget" or the "clearance" laptop. Or probably choosing more space for pictures (Hard drive) then processing power (CPU). This mistakes can cost a lot, because most of the times you can not upgrade. The only way to solve this, is buying another one.
Most people may think of Apple when talking about high-end computers. But there´s a vast array of brands and models running Windows too (at a way cheaper price).
- On a laptop, you want the best or fastest processor you can buy. That way it will not be obsolete in 2 years. DO NOT buy anything at least Core 2 Duo or Athlon II (less expensive). Of course try to aim for the Core i5 or i7 (if you really need speed - these microprocessors are blazing fast!).
- Also you would need more RAM. I recommend at least 4 GB. At least 2GB for regular users.
- If available, get the Windows 7 64-bits (for high end computing. 32 bits systems are limited, they cannot take advantadge of the system resources the way 64 bit does).
- For Hard Drives. More is not necesary the best option. The maximun size I recommend is 500Gb. And I´m saying from the Data Recovery point of view. Please remember, that hig-capacity-hard drives write information verticaly instead of horizontaly, meaning more job for the heads. Think of it as trying to squeeze more information in the same amount of space. Hard drives have not increase physicaly in size, just in the amount of data. In any case, please DO NOT forget to backup, backup, backup!
- If you need your laptop for high end programs, choose a laptop with a dedicated video card. That way you won´t share any cpu or memory resources. (This is not the case for a regular user).
- You will NEED to burn CDs or DVDs. Do not buy the one with the DVD player only. Blu-ray drives can be a little bit expensive
- Find a laptop with the most USB ports possible.
- For screen size. The most logical way of thinking is the BIGGER the BETTER. Well, that is the component adding most weight on a laptop and battery life. Please remember - the size of the laptop does not mean it has the fastest processor.

So, remember CPU and Memory are KEY components when buying a laptop. In case you run out of space for your pictures, you can easily upgrade your hard drive. I hope this tip will help you next time! Please provide positive feedback about this article. Thank you

SOME KEY'S ON MY LAPTOP DOES NOT RESPOND

Turn your laptop off, then use a flathead screwdriver or knife under a key corner, prying the key off gently.

You will hear a snap as the key detaches.

Remove the key retainer remaining on your laptop using your knife or screwdriver under the corner, then popping it off with a gentle twist.

Remove the space bar by pulling it off after your insert the screwdriver or knife underneath the bar.

Clean underneath your laptop keys using cotton swabs or a soft cloth dampened with water or alcohol.

You can also use compressed air to remove dust, hair and other debris.

Replace your laptop keys by placing the key retainer into position.

If you cannot remember the position, copy another retainer's position by removing another key.

Insert the keypad into the retainer, then position the key over the retainer while pressing down on the key.

You should hear the key snap into place.

Place your laptop's space bar over the space bar slots, then snap it into place

Hope this helps.

Certain keys on samsung N150 not working. space bar 2 key 3 key G letter key

Some dust or liquid must have entered or dropped on the keyboard. If it is just dust try using a compressed-air spray canister to blow in the space around the key.

If that does not work you can use a thin knife or flat screwdriver to pry the keys off. Do that with the 3 key first as the space bar is more difficult to put back in - there are a couple of springs that have to be fitted just right. Clean away any dirt and push the key in place.

If it is a liquid then you must open the entire keyboard panel and clean it from the inside. If you have the confidence and skill to do that you can try searching samsung support about how to do that. It is not that difficult if you follow the instructions carefully, but if you yank the flat cable connector off it may be difficult for you to snap it back in.Otherwise ask for professional repair.

Spacebar on my pc wont snap back on after removal

Looks like something has been spilt down behind the spacebar or much dirt has accumulated in among the keys, or the spring has come unstuck the rebounds the spacebar back to it's original position. You will have to open the back of the notebook and try to assess what's wrong back there. I would asume that your spring has come loose from the spacebar and all that needs to be done is to clip it back into it's position, eithir that or a good clean to get rid of all the sticky matter that is back there.

Acer laptop spacebar fell off

The space bar key is connected tothe keyboard a little bit differently then any other key.
clip_image002.jpg
There is a metal retainer connectedto the space bar key (on some keyboard models). Separate the retainer from thespace bar key with a flathead screwdriver.
clip_image004.jpg
Install the retainer back inplace as it shown on the picture. You have to engage the retainer with thesmall hooks on the keyboard.
clip_image006.jpg
Put the space bar key back inplace and gently press on it with fingers until it snaps back in place.
clip_image008.jpg
That’s it. The space bar key isinstalled back in place and should work as before. If you still cannot fix yourkeyboard, then you’ll have to find a new oneand replace it.
Pleas rate my solution on fixya if you are done.

Laptop keys

On a presario the keys are hinged with a small metal hinge at the top that fits into two plastic clips and lets the key sit over the membrane of the keyboard. If the plastic clips have snapped it will involve the fitting of a new keyboard which isnt a user serviceable thing.

If it's out of warranty (HP now own Compaq, so it's them you'll need to talk to, but they will tell you the warranty status from the serial number of the machine) you might consider a rubber "roll up keyboard" along the lines of http://www.iwantoneofthose.com/bendi-light-up-keyboard/index.html - these are rubber folding keyboards that can be transported easily in your laptop bag but are still full size.

F key came off

1.
If you have the key retainer (image) you can find some good instructions on the webpage.

2.
If you do not have the retainer you will have to buy either the key or the entire keyboard from ebay. As of Jan 1 there are no keys available for acer keyboards but the entire keyboard is available here and here.
