Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

It's most probably the analogue controller. If it's a PSP1000, 2000 or 3000 go to the web browser screen. Here you'll see a mouse pointer that can be controlled with the analogue controller. If it moves by itself then the analogue controller is faulty. Of not then it's the directional buttons.

The analogue joystick isnt working properly. the character wanders off in wrong direction on its own.

simple, get a replacement joystick module and install it on your psp. i did a couple. the psp really isnt that intimidating to take apart. compared to an xbox 360 or playstation

In game, psp thinks i am pushing back on analog stick when im not

Your Analogue Stick may be faulty because what you are describing appears to be a hardware issue. If your casing is old and/or broken I recommend replacing the housing or replacing the analogue stick to the bottom left hand side of the console. you can order these parts of Ebay and the housing will take 40 minutes to an hour to replace and the analogue stick should only take 10 minutes to replace.

The analogue button has come out of its socket and although it will go back in it won't click firmly into place.

You probably need to open up the PSP by taking off the covers and then securing it properly. If it is broken then you need a new analogue pad, which you can buy for <$5 on the internet in some places. Alternatively send it to Sony but it will cost more

Analog stuck up

Provided you havent taken you PSP apart and moved the analogue stick try calibrating it before starting the game.

Go to Settings/System Settings,
Select system information,
Once the MAC address is displayed rotate the analogue stick in a circular motion.
Exit the screen and Voila one calibrated stick.

Psp moving by itself

Hey, looks like your PSP may have one of these two problems. There are 2 screws on the backside of the PSP System on the side of the analog stick. If either of the screw is loose then the analog stick will move by itself.
Second problem is the Analog Stick itself has been damaged. You can replace these very easily if you are good with tools and electronics.
