Usually when the motherboard goes, unless it's under warranty, or unless you have the expertise to do it yourself, it's best to turf the laptop and purchase a new one. The cost to repair will almost be the cost of a new laptop.

Hi sir, try to check for possible leaking or bloated filter capacitor in power supply board. That symptom might be caused by insufficient current draw from power supply source. Try to check sir. Maybe it could help. Thanks!

I have hp dv6700, just used for 2years and stoped booting, any suggestions

The DV series were prone to overheating and this took out the graphics chip. If you are still getting the power LED on at the laptop, there is a chance the chip only has gone and this can be reflowed by a specialist repairer..

Hi Im Rain.
I may have bad news for you. Its a very bad sign when your keyboard and monitor are not working at the same time. Sounds like the technician was right.
I also think its your motherboard. If you really just like the computer you can invest in another motherboard.

I have similar laptop DV9629, same problem

Check your the version of the current BIOS. You may need to update the BIOS, HP has solve battery wont charge problem in BIOS.

  1. Shut down the laptop with the battery in and plugged in.
  2. Remove the battery.
  3. Reboot the machine.
  4. Wait for Vista to come up and show the power icon.
  5. Reinstall the battery.
Your battery could just be dead. There are a finite number of cycles that any rechargeable battery can endure and getting more than a year's worth of charges is simply a blessing. Count on needing to replace it once a year (mine's been going strong for almost 3 years now oddly enuff). That said, the battery could still be fine and your charger could be the issue. Any breaks or pinches in the line? Also, check the HP supprt site for battery recalls. It's possible you have a unit that has been affected by one of the recalls. Get the battery info off your battery first and then look it up online to see if you might qualify for a new free replacement battery

Vertical lines in my laptop screen

Hi, that sounds like the integerated video graphics is going bad and it's not actually the screen. the zd7000's were known for video graphics failure. there was a lawsuit filed against hp for the zd models about a year ago to get a free motherboard replacement because of the video issue but it's too late to send it in now for the free repair. the zd models don't have a replacable video card in them like most laptops which the only way to fix the problem ould be to purchase another motherboard, you could try ebay but they're not that cheap.
