Question about Acer Aspire 5100 Notebook
Hi, when I try to run my webcam program it says a problem has caused the program to stop working correctly and windows close the program and will notify me if there is a solution available. This is the fist time I have tried to use it and I haven't touched any setting
Acer Crystal eye stopped working Same message Thoyn had.
There is a utility bar that you can install that lets you change the default application folder:
** Note ** When the My Pictures or Pictures folder gets full, camera will not work - Cut and Paste all pictures in that
folder to another folder and restart Orbicam program.
If that does not work then do this:
Start - Programs - look for Acer Empowering Technology then Acer E-Recovery - The look at the bottom and you will
"Backup", "Burn disk" and Restore" choose Restore - choose Apps and Drivers at the bottom of Restore tab (it will say
extracting) - once extracted - click Install - click Vista or (XP) on the left - click Drivers - click Camera or CCD - on the
right side of the screen, then look for Bison driver or (or your model which can be found in device manager - control panel - system - device manager - Imaging devices) you have then click a phrase that has something like "Install now", follow on screen instructions. Then repeat steps above and instead of driver choose Bison (or your model which can be found in device manager - control panel - system - device manager - Imaging devices) Utility

This isn't a solution but I've gone through all the steps in addressing the issue and none have worked: disabling and enabling the driver, uninstalling and reinstalling the webcam, and even recovering the laptop to another date. All are unsuccessful in fixing the webcam's software. However, the webcam can be accessed through the C: drive (if it's an acer 5520 model, go to Computer, Acer C:, "Windows", "Bison C07", "LiveCa07", "Devices", and then "Acer Crystal Eye Webcam"). In doing so, the webcam opens up but no files exist to save the feed or to take pictures. This means the software is corrupt.
I've gotten my Acer (Aspire 5520-5912) through Circuit City and this is the second laptop to have its webcam application randomly stop working. It's obviously a software issue possibly with acer's feeble attempt at editing Bison's software to be compatible with acer's computers.
All there is to do is send it into Acer (if your computer is still under its manufacturer's warranty) and have them mess with the computer but it'll more than likely be a pain to do so. I'd suggest getting an external webcam that simply plugs into the computer.

If that case maybe the software driver installed of your computer was corrupted. ...now you remove the installed software driver of webcam...after removing your will restart to take effect the uninstall software..then reinstall it again the software of your webcam..i think it is a solution of your problem......you remove it from control panel ..your just find add and remove program the select the software installed for removing...
