Question about HP Compaq nx6110 PC Laptop
While I am not certain to what you are referring, it sounds like you are saying the laptop itself doesn't work unless you press down on it.
This sounds as if there is a loose cable inside somewhere.
Go to the HP web site and search for a schematic for this model of laptop. It will show you how to open the case without destroying it.
Then look carefully for a loose wire or cable and reattach it.

Some of the connections migh be loose or contacts are loose .Pl check if all the screws are properly placed & fitted , if you check & make it ok your laptop will work fine

Tips for a great answer:
I had this problem (hanging on the screen with F10 = ROM based setup) for a while on my HP nc6220 laptop. Was taking several attempts to boot. Replaced the hard drive. Ran virus and malware detection, all clean. Stumbled on to the posting where someone wrote about applying pressure by the touch pad seemed to help. It did. Then the problem gradually got worse. Thought maybe there was something loose. Downloaded the disassembly procedure from hp.com. I found the 2 ground contacts under the touch pad had oxidation on them. Cleaned them with a pencil eraser. Reassembled the laptop and have not hung once. Everything runs faster as well. This is not for the novice, but someone with a little experience should be able to get through the process. Hope this helps someone.
