Question about Dishwashers

1 Answer

My asko dishwasher ran great until recently. after finishing a load, the pump just continues to run (even when all water has been pumped from the unit and it's running dry) and the display isn't flashing anything (not codes, etc). Worried about destroying the pump, I shut off the washer at the breaker, and it's been a few months since we've had a dishwasher. Every once in a while I'll turn the power on and it just continues doing the same thing - it's stuck in this position/state, so I have to shut off power again to save the pump. Is there something I can do to maybe reset the system or advance the cycle?? THANKS!

can you desribe how to remove/reinstall that IC? Is it located in the door or on the pump unit itself? thanks,

I'm pretty handy, but would you recommend a professional repair here? Is this something Sears repair can do if they come to the house? Expected/estimated cost? THANKS!

The IC that controls the pump seems to have gone kaput. Change the IC.

It is generally in the front panel. Uncover the front panel and look for a discolored or burst chip. Not an easy task.

How do you know which IC (integrated circuit?) is broken in the panel?

  • Pete Moffat Dec 31, 2011

Helpful, but not enough info as to the IC.

I have an Asko with the same issue of pump/motor running continuously with red cup light flashing on panel, door open or closed power off. Only stops when circuit breaker pulled.

I have an ASKO D3250 and it has recently started making a loud noise from the pump area. It starts as soon as the cycle begins and doesn't stop even if you open the door. It seems to stop about 90 seconds...

All power and sounds should stop when any dishwasher door is opened.
Your door switch may be stuck causing it to continue.
The 90 second sound at the beginning of the cycle is the water pump extracting any residual water before taking on clean water for the wash cycle.
Any excessive noise from the drain pump could be debris in the pump. e.g. broken glass.
You can remove the pump and check it for blockage or any foreign object.

CHECK THAT THE WATER IS ON TO THE UNIT, AND IF VOLTAGE IS AT WATER INLET VALVE. IF VOLTAGE THEN WATER SHOULD BE COMING IN EITHER BAD INLET VALVE OF CLOGGED SCREEN IF THERE IS VOLTAGE TO VALVE. NO VOLTAGE THEN CONNECTIONS OR TIMER WOULD BE NEXT.

Check your drain. It is dual purpose. It not only drains but, it also recirculates the water doring the cycles.

ASKO 1385 not filling after overfill protection was turned on

If when turned on the dishwasher sounds like it is running the drain pump, and does this in any cycle setting, it is possible that the drain pan below the unit has filled with water. Check this post for more details.

I had to slide the dishwasher forward (undercounter installation)and tip it forward as far as possible. Water leaks onto floor, but then the internal controller seems to reset and the ASKO now works normally again. What kind of idiot would design a control module that does not incorporate a power-off interlock? FAIL FAIL FAIL - Bad, ASKO, Bad. Go to your room.

It sound like you have a blocked or a malfunction pump. Remove the pump from the machine and check whether you have a clogged inside the pump or in one of the pipes connected to it. In case all is clean, you should replace the pump.. Good luck !
