I'm sorry that the camera is not recognizing the lens. Please make sure that the battery is fully charged and there are no dust particles near the lens which stops retracting. Check if you are able to access the Menu. If yes, then, please Initialize the camera under settings 1 Menu. If you are not able to access the menu, you may have to power reset the camera by removing the battery and press n hold the power button for 1 minute continuously. After that leave the button and insert the battery and check if it helps. If the issue still persists, your camera will require service.

The Bower SLY500PN High-Power 500mm f/8 Telephoto with T-mount attached to my Nikon D5200 shows 'nop lens attched'. What is the problem?

There is no problem. The lens simply does not have the electronics for the camera to detect. You need to use the lens in Manual mode (turn the mode dial to M). You'll have to set both the shutter speed and aperture yourself, without any help from the camera's exposure meter.

You can take a picture, look at it on the back of the camera (preferably with the histogram) and adjust the exposure accordingly. Repeat until you get a good exposure.

My lens stuck up wont close and the camera cannot open

The first thing to try is to charge the battery. It might just be too weak to extend the lens.

Otherwise its a common problem of mechanical nature. Usually the camera software detects the condition and goes into a lens error. In some cases the lens can be helped to move again.

LENS ERROR RESTART CAMERA

The lens error is usually caused by mechanical faults concerning lens assembly. This happens because there is dirt inside the lens (sand dust), or one part in the lens assembly is bad or went out of place.
Because of this he lens cannot extend or retract fully, the error is detected and lens error is returned.

Sometimes this can be fixed playing with the lens during extraction or retraction to help the lens asset getting back to normal.
If if does not extend tapping gently the back of the camera, and if it does not retract helping lens back in while turning camera respectively on and off.

More often the camera lens must be disassembled and re-assembled by a technician to fix the problem.

Getting an f-- warning and on control panels

Hi there.
The F-- error means the camera cannot detect an electronic contact with the lens; since you are using a "G" lens, it was likely a matter of an improperly mounted lens, or likely dirty electronic contacts on either the camera body or lens.
Give it a clean, remount the lens, clean the electronic contacts and try it manual mode.

Good luck

Camera will not recognize the lens

Hi, I have a Minolta 7D. I bought an M42 screw lens adapter, an almost flat plate, however the camera kept saying "no lens detected". Then somewher on the web I found a solution: On the menue screen I found "Shutter Lock" with the choice On or Off. By switching to off I can now use 42mm lenses. Though there is no AF and the metering works with setting the aperture manually. Good luck and maybe you find the Sony to be the same.
