Can I instal an agp video card to the motherboard p4bgl-vm?

Please check inside the computer case if the AGP slot is there, according to the user manual there is no AGP slot and so a AGP card has no connector on the mainboard to be connected to - No it can not be installed to this mainboard.

You can only use PCI Video cards if there is no AGP slot.

Remove the Asus graphics card, the Intel MB will
re-enable the onboard graphics card. Download and install Directx 9.c ; http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=2da43d38-db71-4c1b-bc6a-9b6652cd92a3&displaylang=en
Next clean you're registry by downloading and installing; http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner
Once opened click on the registry button and scan for issues than fix any issues found. Shut down the system and reinstal the Asus video card. Use either software to install the driver software. If you still get an error message either post the error message here or contact Asus: 1-812-282-2787Tech IL Eastern Time M-F (Might be a bad card)

Unsupported Video Drivers

It is referring to the capabilities of your video subsystem. Check your motherboard manual if you are using an on-board video controller or the documentation for your add-in video card to see if it supports this feature. If it doesn't, you will need to buy a video card that supports it in order to play the game.

I have asustekP4BGL-VM motherboard the on board vga give 4 bit colour in xp

Hi alkdt, if windows does not allow you to increase to more than four bit color the fault lays with the onboard video card & not windows.
There are a few things you can try to improve the display in XP. First thing I would suggest is for you to run windows update service. Once this service is loaded click on the custom button & look to the right side of the page. Your looking for hardware or software updates (For the video). There may be an update for your graphics card. If windows does not list an upgrade for your integrated video you can download the driver software from Asus, click on this link to load; http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?modelname=P4BGL-VM&SLanguage=en-us
Uninstall the current video software for your Asus board before installing the new. This Asus board was made in 2003 & the onboard video uses your system memory to function. Suggest you buy a PCI graphics card & install it in to an opened PCI slot. Two reasons for this suggestion. Today’s PCI cards come with their own memory. Two, a PCI card will free up your system memory for windows. Like these PCI card;

XFX cardscome with a lifetime warranty.

Good luck alkdt!

Graphics card problem

Hi rovin,
So you bought an XFX GeForce 256MB video card. You're board has 1 free AGP 8x video slot & 3 PCI (White opened slots).
You mention there is not slot for the new card. (What type of video card did you buy)? PCI-E, AGP or PCI?
The only slot you're board does not have is a PCI-Express.
Look in you're manual on page 1-7 for the location of the AGP video card slot.
94565e6.jpg If you bought the wrong card, exchange it for an AGP 8x or PCI.
The ASUS P5PE-VM uses a integrated Intel® 865G chipset with integrated Intel® Extreme Graphics 2 Technology, which uses you're system memory to function.
If you need a manual you can download it from Asus. Click on the link to open to the P5PE-VM download site.
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?modelname=P5PE-VM&SLanguage=en-us

I hope you find this helpful.
