You need to do two types of cleanups one by the softwar5e and selecting self-cleaning and alignment and the second by hand and that by taking both inks out and using a clean dry cloth to clean around the ink cartridges and make sure that the vent hole is clear and no stiker5s on the housing after that with a clean cotton swaps clean the inside housing in the printer and install the inks again starting with the black making sure that the ink is placed good in the housing and close the door good and run the alignment, and let me know how that worked.
Please see that grant me your approvals by rating my service and I hope that I can serve you again the future.

This sounds as if the Black ink cartridge is low. This printer uses both a color and a black cartridge. Either that, or the cartridge might be incompatible.

There is a cartridge compatibility chart here:
http://www.canon-europe.com/images/PDF_Ink_Compatibility_Chart_ENG_HR-v1_0_tcm13-342201.pdf

Page 3 lists the MP390.

Also, did you remove the protective tape when you installed the cartridge?

Hello, i cant print\copy. i get a message about empty cyan and yellow ink but i only wanted to print in black. do i have to change the other colors to print in black (which is full)?

Check the printer options or settings, Click Print and then on the pop up window before you print, instead of color select print mode as black and white. Then try again and see, if it does print try removing the colored cartridge and see if it prints. If it fails again you will need to play around with the options and quality of the printout.

Sounds like your printer could use a bit of cleaning and maintenance, please contact your local HP support for help.

Also, if you use non-original ink for your printer, the result will anything else than "Always clear, always sharp"...

New Brother MFC 885CW - fails to print in black - even with new cartridge.

Have you tried to align the print cartridge? Also, try cleaning the nozzle, both using the Brother diagnostics utilities that should have come with the printer. If all else fails it may be the print carriage that's broken.

First Perform deep print head cleaning if this fails and the print results are same then you may need to replace the print head on the printer .......
