If you have burning software open it and run drive speed tools,or you may need to uninstall it and restart, when your computer finds new hardware cancel the wizard,go to your computer support site and type in your service tag or mdl no and download the driver and software to your desktop and run it should fix it ,if its still like that go to the manufactures web site and see if there is a firmware update for your drive ,if so download and install.according to instructions, open the drive and make sure something isnt stuck in the track, dosent take much, hair can jamm it up

My advent 7105 keeps beeping and wont boot up ?

the beeps are post during post the very first work is done by the ram all the memory in the ram is first transferred to the hard disk and remains active until turned off.

make sure that your RAM modules and Cmos battery sockets are clean and dust free and the ram modules are securely seated in some motherboards cmos batteries are soldered in

Test all leads that attach to your hard drive including electrical extensions,IDE,SATA

the leads from your ((motherboard to your hard drive)) make sure they have a secure connection

and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty
make sure all leads that are attached to your drives dvd\cd have secure connections and are not faulty or just replace them they could be faulty ?

one bad lead will end with a computer error a computer needs its connections continue its cycle and have an end to function properly

even something as small as an electrical extension or a faulty fan lead can cause this problem computer needs all of the data and electrical current to travel through every device and to have an end to be able work properly

hope this helps you

Bios not recognizing new hardrive

Hi:
Some older laptops don't always recognize the full size hard drives bigger than 134 Gb, but they usually show up in your bios. There isn't an easy way to install it wrong, so if the drive wasn't new to you, it might have a problem...New Hard drives come with installation CD's, but that won't do you any good until the drive is recognized

Hardrive upgrade on IBM i 1400 Laptop ?

Hi! It's correct that your Thinkpad will only accept up to 512 mb of memory, and only certain chips will work with your unit. Here is a link that shows the memory that will work.

Below is a link for recommendations for a hard drive upgrade. It looks like you can go up to a 250 gig drive using Western Digital. Hope this helps! Hal

I have a Compaq presario V2000. Right now I have 60gig internal hard drive. Is there a max internal hardrive I should purchase? I can buy up to 250 gigs? How much would you recommend I purhcase?

Usually, the more storage the better. You can go up to 260 gig total with a primary 100 gig drive and a secondary 160 gig drive. Note that with the extra drive, the unit will use more power so think about that first.
