Question about Toshiba Satellite® P205 S6237 PC Notebook

After logging in the administator account the screen goes black ie no files ,folders and programs on the desktop.But the guest account is okay

    xp or vista? not familiar with vista. had several friends tried it & switched back to xp! however, if you have an anti-virus prog. available, run it on your guest account. a virus, trojan, worm, or some other malware may be messing with your admin. account. also, i assume that you have a password for your admin. account. if your password gets you past sign on to a dead desktop, then, as you already know, something's screwing with your admin. privileges. try booting in 'safe-mode' and clicking on start and clicking on control panel, then administrative tools. this may allow you to find a fix-i'm talking xp in classic display mode. xp mode will display differently. i have a satellite too. older, but similar. if you don't know the f key to hit at boot-up, or possibly the delete key to bring up boot-up choices, check your dox. could be f2,f4,f8 or delete. need to start tapping the key as soon as boot -up starts!! if it don't work- shut down and try the next f key, or delete. one should work! good luck!

Sounds like someone has removed all the user data for the administrator.
You may try a system restore but a restoration may be your only way out.

A log-on loop on your Windows XP computer is a difficult situation where the computer never completes its boot cycle, restarting intermittently ad nauseam.


This issue indicates a major problem with the boot functionality of your XP system.

Restore the computer to working order by utilizing the repair and restoration utility on your XP system disk.

Insert the XP disk into the computer.


Restart the computer.

Press any key when prompted to boot from the disk.

Press "Enter" at the first screen and "F8" at the license terms.


Highlight the drive containing XP and press "R," repairing the operating system boot files and removing the log-on loop.

How to get computer off a tempory profile

Every time that you log on to a Windows Vista-based computer that is connected to a domain, a temporary user profile is created.


When you log off the computer, the user profile is deleted.

This behavior usually occurs because the account that you use to log on to the computer is a member of one or more of the following groups:
•Guests
•Domain Guests

If this is a school/work computer then this is most likely the way the NetAdmin has set it up.

If this is your home computer then a temporary user profile is issued each time an error condition prevents the user's profile from loading.


You may encounter profile issues if you log on with a user in the Guests group.

You need to remove the user in question from the local Guests or "Domain guests" group and that should do it.

1. Click Start

2. Right click Computer and Select Manage

3. Select Local Users and Groups > Groups

4. Double click Guests

5. Check if the user that is having the issue is a member of the Guests group

6. If so, remove the user from the Guests group

7. Log off the workstation and log back on

8. Verify the profile is now local

2) When the "SFC / SCANNOW" command is running, this command will scan every corner of your system, and repair the missing or corrupted files.


2. Shift to another administrator user, if you don't have one, please create a new administrator account and log in.


3. Navigate to C:\Documents and Settings folder, backup the data of your original corrupted profile, then delete the corrupted profile and all the temp profiles.


4. Open Registry Editor (type "Regedit" without quotation mark in the start menu blank and open it), search for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\WindowsNT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList, under the profileList subkey, delete the key named SID.bak.


5. Restart your computer; you will be able to log in the normal profile again.

My hp pavilion g series is loged on to a tempery profile so every time i log off everything is erased

How do I reset the password on the windows 7 home page


Windows has a built-in security system that requires a user to type in a password to get to his personal account.
Only an "Administrator" account holder can make software changes to the computer.
All other users, including Guest users, need the permission of an Administrator to make any system changes.
However, if you have a guest account and need to access the Administrator account to make changes, you can do so via the Command Prompt feature.
Log in to your Guest account in Windows.
Go to "Start" > "Search" and type in "windows/system32/cmd.exe" to find the Command Prompt feature.
When the file appears on the search menu, drag it to your desktop.
Leave the search window open.

Right-click the cmd.exe file on your desktop and choose "Rename."
Type "sethc.exe" for the new name and click on an empty area next to the file name to save the new name.
Right-click on the "sethc.exe" file and click on "Copy."
Go back to the open "windows/system32" folder and right-click anywhere in the folder.
Select "Paste" to put the "sethc.exe" file inside.
Choose "Yes" when asked if you want to overwrite the current file.
Go to "Start" > "Log Off." It will bring you back to the User Account menu.
Press the "Shift" key 5 times in a row.
The Command Prompt will open.
Type "net user administrator [password]" and insert a new password in the [password] section.
Press "Enter" to set your new password.
It will bring you back to the User Accounts menu.
Click on the Administrator User Account and type the password you just set to log in to the account.

Are you the administrator for this computer?...Are you the only one or the main one who uses this computer?....Is this you're computer?
You may need to create a new profile for administrator...or guest...Go to Control Panel...Users...Change Accounts...and make the changes....

I have trouble downloading on MacBook Pro. Everytime i push the download key it goes to a black screen and doesnt download. I've checked the downloads folder but there is nothing there. I can download...


this sounds like a temp folder has your downloads and some software that is set to open at start up is keeping your files.
i suggest making a account or looking thorough your previous downloaded files

Obviously you have logged on as a guest user which restrict you from entering other files in the PC .
go back to the user icon on the control panel and log on as the administrator and you will be able to access all files .

My administrator account is corrupt and i can not log into it, but luckily i have the guest account turned on but with this account i can not create a new account like an administrator one. so how do i...


Without using 3rd party pay-for tools, I would recommend locating the Windows CD that came with the machine. I would then boot to the CD, and use the Recovery Console option. When you get into the recovery console, you should be able to log in using the administrator password only. This doesn't load the Administrator profile, it just uses the password for permissions reasons. I would then navigate to the Documents and Settings folder (assuming this is XP) and rename the Administrator profile folder to something else. Once you rename this folder, restart the computer, log in as Administrator again, and Windows will create a new profile for the Administrator, and leave your old one alone. Once you're logged in, you can browse to the old profile and get your files and pictures back.

Have a z708 lexmark printer can't instal to my computer have no instalation cd


  1. Uninstall any previous versions of the driver:
    1. Click on Start, Programs (Windows XP: All Programs).
    2. Go to the Lexmark folder and select the Uninstall program.
    3. Follow the prompts to continue the uninstallation.
    4. Restart the computer when the uninstall program is finished.
  2. Log on to the administrator account (generally the first account that is set up on the computer). Note: If you have purchased a ready-made system and did not install Windows yourself, you may need to contact your PC manufacturer to find out how to log on to your system's administrator account as this will differ from system to system.
  3. Install the printer again using the latest driver software. Note:
  4. Before you start downloading the software, make sure your printer is on and connected to the computer. If the software requires you to remove your cable during installation, it will prompt you to do so.
    1. Create a new folder on your desktop and call it Lexmark.
    2. Go to our Drivers and Downloads center.
    3. Note: The name of this site/page may be slightly different in your region/country.
    4. Click Printer Driver.
    5. Select the Related Product Name from the drop-down menu.
    6. Select your Operating System from the drop-down menu.
    7. Select the desired Language from the drop-down menu.
    8. Select the latest Driver File and click on the File Name to detach it to the Lexmark folder on your desktop (see step 1).
    9. Once the download is complete, open the folder and double-click on the file.
    10. When the WinZip Self-Extractor screen appears, click on When done unzipping file open:<the printer file name>. (The name will appear beneath this option).
    11. Click Unzip. The installation program should autorun. Follow the on-screen prompts to install the printer.
    12. If the installation program does not autorun, double-click on the newly created LXK___ folder for Setup.exe. An installation program will run. Follow the on-screen prompts.
    13. If you are prompted to install the printer for all users, click Yes.
    14. When the installation is complete, restart the PC.

  5. Try printing from the administrator account first and then from the user account that exhibited the problems in the first place. Both should print to the printer.
