Try updating all the drivers.
If the issue still come out then try troubleshooting.
Like interchanging the graphics card with your friend or someone maybe.
Check the results, which might tell you the problem is related with graphics card or not!!
Still i think that problem might be with Your Bios. try updating Bios also!!!!!

This machine was running a 1.2 processor which I now know is the fastest processor the mobo will support. However, and before I knew this, I placed a 1.53 processor (AX1800DMT3C) in the slot and the bios...

The original CPU was 1200 Mhz, namely 12 times the 100 Mhz "clocking" supplied by the motherboard.
The new CPU is 1.53 Mhz, namely 11.5 times a 133 Mhz clocking, if the motherboard can supply that rate of clocking.

If your motherboard can only supply 100 Mhz clocking,
then the new CPU would run at 1150 Mhz (namely its 11.5 multiplier over the 100 Mhz clocking), i.e., slower than the original CPU.

Can you try the 1.2 processor in some other motherboard?
It's possible that you "killed" it, when you removed it,
or after you removed it, by giving it a static-electricity burst.

Do you have another processor that you can try in your motherboard?

What happens if you put the 1.53 processor into the motherboard?
Does it POST (Power On Self Test) ?

No screen

MOST likely the monitor is bad if you don't hear any beeps when booting up.

If you unplug the monitor the screen should say NO SIGNAL

Computer won't boot.

Yea your processor has overheated. It can be replaced this is what you need https://www.upgradebay.com/c1_itemdetail.asp?rid=22&itemid=168714521 I would open up the bay door and take a look at the main fan that is attached to the motherboard. If you can get that off then you will be able to see the chip that you need to replace. Make sure to put on a bit of thermal grease before you put the fan back on your new CPU as this was the reason your old one crapped out. Good luck!

My computer screen goes black and has trouble rebooting.

Hi,..

If your screen goes black add no display, you need to open the mainboard and check the parts specially the processor, i think the processor overheat, that causes no screen become black, you need to remove and clean, after that you put it back, just put a thermal paste in the back of your processor, so that the heat is absorbed,

Good luck !!!

Black screen, blinking cursor in top left hand corner

Could be a number of issues, incl unseated processor or a faulty hard drive. First off I would remove mains & battery, remove covers from underneath and reseat any memory or processors you can find - by reseat I mean just take out and put back.If this fails, I would look to price up a new hard drive before condemning the machine.

2 ghz processor running at 220 mhz

Hi,

Have you tried right clicking on the desktop (opening Display Properties), clicking on Screen Saver tab, Clicking the Power button, and setting the power schemes to Home/Office Desk? If its set on laptop it will reduce the processor speed when running on battery. I have noticed that even with it plugged in that some times it will run at half processor speed. Try that out.

Have a great day,
Armymason
