I have a peculiar problem. There isno sound through the speakers of the phone. If I attach the wired headset that came with the phone, Sound comes through the headset. If I press the speaker ket while the heatset is attached while listening to radio, then there is sound in the speakers. However the earpiece of the phone is still not working. If I make a call, then the mic and the speaker both are not working.

Hi, had same problem.... unscrew the remote and carefully remove the back end part of the stereo-connector (very careful !) it consists of a very small switch which moves sideways..... this switch is stuck into headphone-modus. Reassemble and it will work again Note that speakers will work if you remove the switch
I think the problem is that the media player plays the sound from the speaker instead of sending it to a bluetooth headset. have a look into the media player options and settings, also try a headset or headphones that you can plug in the phone, that should work also.
Mine does this periodically too, and it's really frustrating. I've found that it's apparently related to an internal switch in the 3.5 mm audio jack that gets STUCK in the mode as if headphones were plugged in, even when they are not. I've successfully (temporarily) solved it by tapping the phone into my desk to break loose the switch, by re-plugging and unplugging my headphones, or by wiggling them around while plugged in & then unplugging. Hope that helps. It's a design flaw for an otherwise great phone in my opinion.
This problem now seems to be well known issue with this phone, and I too have faced it as an owner of this phone. The peculiar issue being that its not present in all phones and the there is way to identify if the phone will have this problem.
The problem is a software issue, where the phone's speaker gets muted. If you are taking the call, simply changing the volume solves the issue, however the same does not work for incoming calls and you are forced to cut and call back.
Many suggestions have been made on working around the problem but non seems to work. The problem is most common if you select the SILENT profile. Upgrading to the latest firmware 5.11 does not sort the problem, and actually it introduced the problem (as it was in my case).
The best advise i can give is to replace the phone, as it seems Nokia has not managed to fix the issue even after several firmware fixes.
I had a similar issue on mine. The easy fix was to insert a headset jack and pull it out quickly. I think something got stuck that turns off the speaker after I put the headset in the jack once. If this is the problem, I think you should also see a headset icon when making calls, even though no headset is attached.
