Powercom BNT-1000AP UPS shuts down after self test

I have 2 of these units in my home office. They are about 4 years old. Recently, one of them reported low batteries via the software and I figured it was time to replace the batteries. I measured the charging output and all seemed okay. I fitted new batteries about a month ago and everything has been fine since then. On Sunday, when my weekly scheduled self test occurred, the unit holds the PC during the test, but then switches off (shuts down) as soon as power is restored. I repeated this test manually by cutting the power to the ups and restoring it again a minute later. The unit continues to supply power until the external power is restored, then it shuts down completely. My electronics is a bit rusty and I don't have a schematic for the UPS so it would be a bit difficult for me to fix it without help. Can you point me in the right direction or maybe supply a schematic so that I can troubleshoot the unit and get it working properly again? It's been great up to now and I would really like to save it. Our power is a bit unreliable here in South Africa so a UPS is a must.
I have photographs of the PC boards which I took when I opened it to change the batteries. The PC board details and numbers are clearly visible, so I could send these to you to aid identification, if that will help?

Hi! Per our UPS problem is when open 3 or 4 hours, then auto Off the UPS. please let me know what the problem. And i need to change the PCB board or just repair the PCB board? Thanks Regards

If you unplug the unit and it powers your PC for 3 or 4 hours then turns off, it is because the batteries are empty and this is normal. If it is plugged-in with power and shuts itself off after a few hours, then the battery cells may be in need of replacing. You can purcase an inexpensive replacement battery here: http://www.upsforless.com/browseproducts/Powercom-Replacement-Battery-Kit-BNT-500A-BNT-500AP-BNT-600AP-BNT-800AP-KIN-425CSU-KIN-625CS.HTML

Ups starts beeping

Is there any indicator lights ON showing the fault condition?
This could indicate that the battery has a low charge. Even if you switch off the mains supply and it switches over to the battery, the UPS may shut down after a short time as the battery power (charge) runs out.
If the battery is more than 3 years old then it may be due for replacement.

UPS shuts down when the mains is off.

Hi

After 3 years, i would by a new UPS...

The battery will have to be changed if you want to keep the old one.

What i've seen mostly here in south africa. When the battery life has ended they customer opens the ups and takes out the battery and then connects a car battery to the terminals. The then close the ups and let the car battery stand outside the ups.

Hope this info helps...

Powercom BNT 1500AP quit working after power outage

From your description it appears one or more batteries are bad..The circuit breaker on the Power Strip..which more then likely is a 15 Amp..tripped due to over current conditions..check the batteries and reset the circuit breaker..That should take care of it

UPS Turns ON and OFF by Itself.

You may need to change the battery within the battery backup. The normal lifetime of a battery is roughly 3 years.
