Remember that if you are replace HDD it will not working you need to install the operating system so that it will working fine. The new replacement HDD has empty that's why keeps freeze load the windows to function. After you load the windows load also the driver of your motherboard so that the video and audio work fine.

DISK DRIVE NOT WORKING

If your Hard Disk Drive (HDD) is not working and assuming that this is also your boot disk for starting the laptop, then you have several possible causes:
1. The HDD has failed / died / become non-operational and will need to be replaced and your operating system reloaded or restored from a backup if you have one.
2. The computer BIOS has lost the configuration for the HDD and doesn't recognise it as a valid boot device. In this case, you would need to go into the BIOS settings and check to see what HDD devices are beig detected, then look at the Boot options within the settings and ensure that the HDD is selected as the main boot device.
Note: It is normal to have other removable devices set ahead of the HDD such as CD / Diskette or USB devices.
3. The HDD boot sector has become corrupted and the computer no longer recognises the disk as a valid boot medium. You would need to repair the HDD if this is possible using an alternative boot media such as the Hiren's Boot CD which you would need to download as an ISO CD image then burn on to a blank CD disc, then boot from. The DOS programs on the Hiren's CD provide a very good HDD repair tool called HDAT2.
An alternative approach would be to remove the HDD from the laptop and connect it as a slave in a different computer and then perform any repair activities from that system.

The problem I'm experience with my computer start when a blue sceen appears. The statement states: A problem has been dected and windows has been shut down to prevent damage to my computer. If this...

If you are running Windows XP, the boot to the XP CD, press R when prompted to access the Recovery Console, then run the command CHKDSK /R at the C:\windows\system32\ prompt
If you get indications of recovering lost allocation units, then the disk surface of the HDD is likely bad and the HDD will need to be replaced.
If running Windows Vista or Windows 7, boot to the Windows DVD and select REPAIR MY COMPUTER

After fdisk and format of hdd install of os freezes after 2min. when it says windos is starting, tried differant versions of windows does the same thing!!!! Please help!!!!!!

PXE media failure means the system is trying to boot via Network card not your hard drive. When you performed fdisk then formatted the disk, you might have not selected an active or logical partitioning to support the OS. Run the PSA diagnostics by holding the Fn button before turning on your computer. If it gives you an error, it means your HDD has gone bad and needs to be replaced. If it freezes during the the loading of files during the installation, it means that your RAMs are bad because the windows loader dumps all the information to the RAM chips. If it does hang during the installation of files, two points of failure are to be looked upon, the RAMs and the HDD. I recommend you reset the BIOS to the factory settings as to reset the boot priority so it does boot to HDD first, not to any of the bootable drives available on your computer.

Laptop locks up constantly, even during boot from HDD or CD.

Don't upgrade the OS. Try upgrading your RAM. This should the computer to process more and therefore stop it freezing as much. Also don;t run too many programs at once. If you are looking to keep a laptop for the furture invest in a new one. go to http://www.crucial.com/ fo RAM.
