Your problem is likely due to weak/worn out batteries or corrosion on the battery contacts inside the camera which can prevent the full power of the batteries from flowing into the camera. Try this free fix before you do anything else: remove the batteries and wipe the camera contacts firmly with a dry cloth (heavy corrosion may require cleaning with a wire brush, steel wool, or sandpaper). Remove any residue that may have fallen into the battery compartment during cleaning, then wipe both ends of the batteries and place them back in the camera. This cleaning clears the problem about 90% of the time. If it doesn't work for you, chances are that your batteries need to be replaced because they're just too worn to properly power the camera. And then, of course, there's the possibility that your camera may have a problem that requires professional repair.

My camera ( finepix jz100) wont open and screen says turn off and on again when camera is turned on

It looks like the lens is stuck or jammed. Is the lens damaged in some way? Make sure the lens retracts fully when the camera is turned off. If not the lens is probably defective.

Lens error lens wont close what to do?

Hi,The problem is actually quite common throughout all camera brands. Usually it's sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera's been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Here are different solutions to this problem;

Fix #1: Remove the batteries from the camera, wait a few minutes. Put a fresh set of batteries back in (preferably rechargeable NiMH 2500mah or better) and turn the camera on. If that didn't work, try pressing and holding the Function or OK button while turning the camera on.
Fix #2: If the camera's batteries ran down completely while the its lens was still open, the camera may show a lens error or not start properly when new batteries are installed. Remove the memory card and keep it removed, then install the new batteries. When you turn the camera on with the card removed it may come back to life, as this triggers a reset in some cameras. Error E30 (for older Canon's) means that you don't have a memory card installed, so turn it off, slip in the SD card and turn it on one last time

Fix #3: Insert the cameras Audio/Video (AV) cable, and turn the camera on. Inserting this cable ensures that the camera's LCD screen remains off during the start process. Thus extra battery power is available to the camera's lens motor during startup. This extra power can be useful in overcoming grit or sand particals that may be jamming the lens. If the AV cable doesn't fix the lens error by itself, consider keeping this cable installed while trying fixes 4, 5, and 7 as a means to provide extra power to help to these fixes. But note that I DON'T recommend keeping the cable installed during Fix 6 as you may damage the AV port while tapping the camera. Reinsert the cable only AFTER tapping the camera.

Fix #4: Place the camera flat on its back on a table, pointed at the ceiling. Press and hold the shutter button down, and at the same time press the power-on button. The idea is that the camera will try to autofocus while the lens is extending, hopefully seating the lens barrel guide pins back into their slots.

Fix #5: Blow compressed air in the gaps around the lens barrels with the idea of blowing out any sand or grit that may be in there jamming the lens. Other variations include blowing with a hair dryer in “no heat” setting, or sucking the gaps with a vacuum (careful with this one). Some people also have actually used a "Shop Vac" with this fix to help extend a retracted lens.
Thanks and take care

Camera lens wont open

Saw a similar problem recently, same cause, and result was the lens was jammed.

Did manage to wiggle it free after many attempts...it only stays on for a few seconds before faulting and going off...but it's a bit hard to get a hold on the edge of the lens to pop-out the low side.

Started by laying it on it's back and checking the level of the lens edges for the low spot, then used a thick sewing needle to lift up while turning the unit on (again and again) until the gear-ring popped back in during the lens-check at start-up.

My camera won't stay turned on

Its possible that dirt, sand had got stuck between your lens barrel and the body and that why the lens is giving you problems.

You can try some of the following solutions to help you out:

1).Remove the batteries from the camera, wait a few minutes. Put a fully charged batteries back in and turn the camera on. if it doesnot work then,

2: Remove the batteries again, as also remove the memory card. Then install the newly charged batteries, when you turn it on it should come back to life.

3: Insert the cameras Audio/Video (AV) cable, and turn the camera on. Inserting this cable ensures that the camera's LCD screen remains off during the start process. Thus extra battery power is available to the camera's lens motor during start up. This extra power can be useful to overcome any grit or sand particles that may be jamming the lens.
4: Blow compressed air in the gaps around the lens barrels with the idea of blowing out any sand or grit that may be in there jamming the lens. Other variations include blowing with a hair dryer in “no heat” setting, or sucking the gaps with a vacuum
5: Repeatedly tap the padded/rubber usb cover with the intent of dislodging any particles that may be jamming the lens. Other variations include hitting a side of the camera against the palm of your hand. Dont try very hard please.

Try the above and let me if its any help.

If the above does not help. Then you would need to take it to the nearest service center.

Camera wont turn on.

This kind of problem is hard to understand just what the problem is. That is because many problems can cause such behavior.

Make sure that if this camera has a switch on the battery door or battery/memory card door, that it is not broken or has anything to do with the starting of the camera. One way to test this is to leave the door open, then try to start the camera. If nothing at all happens, then the switch should be okay.
I would like to know about the history of this camera. Has it ever been dropped, been exposed to water, or had an impact on the lens when it was extended. Any of these can lead to problems like what you have stated.
Dropping a camera can do internal damage, not only to the lens, but to the internal connections.
Water damage can cause unlimited kinds of errors and troubles which may be hard to define. An impact to the lens can damage the internal workings of the lens unit to the point that it can be jammed. The jamming will cause such actions as you mentioned. That is because the lens cannot move, cannot be detected as to position and may cause the camera to stop or shut down.
