Print first a nozzle check pattern, self test which they say. Check your manual for your printer, it should be accessible from that if you dont have any manual, go to the epson website and download a manual. Usually the self test would go like this.
While the printer is turned off, you press and hold down the paper feed button, continue holding it down while turning on the printer. It will print the nozzle check pattern standalone. If you see all the colors then the issue your having is a color management issue, if you do not see the cyan, magenta, yellow, black, light magenta and light cyan from that test; then you will need to do 3 consecutive times of Head Cleaning from the maintenance program in your computer. If you have a windows xp it goes like this.
Click on start go to control panel - printers and faxes -
you right click on your printer icon and select printing prefrences. From there, go to maintenance tab and click head cleaning, go through that cycle 3 consecutive times and see if it improved. Good luck....

SOURCE: epson stylus dx5000 will not
Yes, there is an internal fuse. I have a DX5000 as well which woould not turn on so I ripped it apart to check for an internal fuse as all other fuses, cables etc were fine.
I have to say it is a bummer to get to the fuse in the DX5000. You have to take out each and every part of the assembly before you can reach a fuse on the Circuit board attached to the main input.
It is a T1.25 Amp 250V ceramic fuse which I could not get hold of therefore decided to ditch the printer.
I would say it is not worth the effort, just get a new printer. Look out for deals... I got the Epson Stylus SX200 on a half price deal for just £39.99. Its better and faster then the DX2000 and this time I checked the power input. It is easy to open and access the main input circuit from the back in this one.
NOTE: If you do happen to go for ripping the thing apart then please do not touch the power circuit board with you hands even if the printer is totally disconnected as it has a capacitor on it which will discharge and give you a little shock if you happen to touch it. Good luck.

SOURCE: Have an Epson Stylus DX5000
For starters, don't run any more head cleans - too many can cause problems as well as waste lots of ink. Get some Windex (glass cleaner) or if not sold in your area, get a 5% solution iof Ammonia (sold in many countries as latest Cillit Bang - also, like here is Spain, as Viakal) Get the printhead (containing the cartridges) into the Change Cartridge position. Then remove power supply - meaning remove lead or unplug - DO NOT simply switch printer off. Make a two or 4 layer (of linen - like sheeting) pad, about 4" long and around 2" wide after folding. Soak with the Ammonia solution. Slide under the printhead. Reason for removing power supply is when that is done, you can slide head side to side easily. Leave pad under the printhead for at least an hour. Remove the pad. Reconnect the power and switch on. Printer will now perform a clean and should set up ready to print as normal.. Try a nozzle check - you go into Control Panel on computer, double-click on the Printer icon, then select printer, right click and select properties. Check through settings tabbed pages until you find Print Test Page first and try that. Otherwise, go to the settings page and find the Maintenance Tabbed page, where you can select the Head Cleaning and Nozzle Check facilities. Hope full the nozzle check will show a full printout. If unlucky, just repeat the pad routine - and perhaps leave overnight.
