Try powering off, unplugging waiting a couple and then powering up again, this will reset the sensor which is reporting a problem but it wont correct the problem

see page 64 in the user manual

Epson printer 1400, is printing vertical blue lines through my prints. How can I eliminate them?

If the lines are vertical to the direction of the printhead movement, you need to clean the paper rollers and the small "pizza wheels" of your printer. Also check for any traces of stuck paper in the paper path. I recon you ars not using genuine inks, right? Try to slow down your print speed by selecting a best quality setting.
If the lines are parallel to the printhead movement, your printhead is either clogged our stuck.

2 lights flashing

What is the flash pattern?

If the red paper light and the red ink light are blinking in an alternating pattern, then you may have a foreign object or piece of paper blocking the movement of the print head. Turn off the printer, open the printer and look for anything in the printhead path. Remove anything that doesn't belong. Some printers have a strip that the print head travels across that can sometimes come out of position. This can be repositioned by moving it up and down as well as forward and back to align in a guide on the back of the print head.

After clearing the obstruction, close the printer and turn it back on. If the error persists, then the unit needs service.

If the red paper light and the red ink light are blinking together and the green power light is off, then the printer has an internal error. Turn it off and then back on. If the error persists, the unit needs service.

One internal error could be the waste ink absorber is full. These pads are below the printhead and absorb ink during cleaning cycles. To reach them is messy and takes disassembling the printer from the top. This may include removing the print head. Pull the pads, blot the ink off them and the places where they fit in the printer. Run clean water over the pads until the water remains clear. Dry the pads (use a hair dryer to speed the process). Then reassemble the printer.

Next navigate to http://www.epson.com/cgi-bin/Store/support/InkPadsForm.jsp and fill in the model and serial number of the printer (as well as the other required information). You will get a link to download a reset utility for Windows. Run this tool to solve the error. Do not run this utility until the pads are replaced or cleaned; waste ink will get everywhere inside the printer and over your documents.

I hope this helps.

My epson 1400 printer doesn't print

try printing a nozzle check to see if the nozzles are clogged by dried inks that why nothings printing. turn off the printer than press and hold power and paper button together for 3 sec. then release, it will print, if blank, all nozzles are clogged. do a head cleaning. hold the ink button for 3 seconds. wait until the power light stops flashing then print nozzle check again until all lines are complete,

Stopped printing both ink and paper red light

Depending on the way the lights are flashing you could be able to fix this reasonably easily.

If the lights are flashing at high speed together (ie: at the same time) then it's a fatal error and the chances are you have some kind of problem such as:
  • paper jamming up the works
  • loose wiring
  • the cleaning station sometimes pops up out of position and stops the printhead getting back into the parked position. If this is the cause you have to push the white wiper plastic down and to the right before allowing it back up and into the mated position with the parking pad. Takes a little work but it's easy enough.

Problem #2 is the waste pads and that's indicated by the flashing lights alternating rather than together.

If it's this then rather than reinvent the wheel (I've posted about this soooo many times now) here's a helpful little guide here:
http://www.octoink.co.uk/store/pages/Epson-C86.html (the C86 is the same as the C88 in terms of the waste pump/tubing design)

Resetting the waste ink counter requires the SSC utility from ssclg.com or a suitable adjustment utility which can be found for download if you search hard...

Hope that lot helps but if you get stuck, post again and I'll do what I can.

Cheers,

Martin

Paper lights and ink lights flashing,/power light off, /mac os x tiger 10.4

Sound like the maintenance request (ie: waste ink pads are full).

This has been documented in detail so check the link below for more info' but the short version is this..

When the printer reaches a point in its internal logic that makes it think that the nappy pad is full or in danger of being full of waste ink it will indicate a "service required". At this point you can either take the printer to an Epson service center/tech and get it serviced for a considerable amount of money or you can reset the waste counter and fit an external waste tank/kit.

The latter approach is covered with these links below but there's plenty more on the subject if you need it so hope this lot helps.

Modifying the printer to use an external waste tank.

Blinking lights

The pads do need to be replaced. It is not as simple like the 1280. it does need to be taken into an authorized service center.
we are, and located in southern california.

I have taken the pads out and 95% of the time are all completely soaked. you can do what you did, but you will not get the full life out of a pad.

thanks

Ink heads

Removing the printheads from Epson printers is not recommended as you can successfully clean them while they are still installed and with less chance of borking the printer by forgetting where that screw went :)

To do this you need to turn the printer on, let the printhead move off the parking pads (where the printhead rests) and then immediately pull the power cord so the printer stops.

This will allow you to freely move the printhead to the far left out of the way.

You now need some ammoniated windex or a similar cleaning solution (try asking your ink supplier) compatible with inkjet printers.

Using a kitchen paper towel, carefully fold it four times and then soak this in the solution before putting the paper pad so it sits over the parking pad. Now move the printhead so it sits over the solution soaked pad and leave for 12 hours (don't turn the printer on or plug it back in).

Remove the original pad and put in a new one and leave for a further 12 hours.

Note: This approach allows the cleaning solution to wick up into the printhead nozzles and break down the clogs, returning them to solution and allowing you to clear them out. It requires time to let the solution do its work which is why it's critical you don't try to rush things..

Now, remove the pad, plug the printer back in and turn the printer on... Wait for the printer to stop it's initial routine and then run a cleaning routine and a nozzle check...

Leave the printer for a further hour just to let things settle some more and then print a new nozzle check...

You should find that that the printhead will have cleared out a great deal of clogging.

If your printhead has been clogged for some months you might want to change the pads more than once and extend the period over 2 to 3 days.

Whatever you do, don't try brushing the printhead back and forth over the soaked pad and avoid more than one cleaning cycle in a 3 hour period.

Hope that helps.

if the printer power light is off and the paper and ink light are flashing there are a few things you can try.
1. remove all paper from the printer.
2. lift cover and check for paper jam
3. check to see that the ink cartridge cover is completley closed. (the covers do actually pop themselves open and jam)

if none of these fix your problem then your in the hands of epson tech support. they can be reached @ 562-276-7282
